Dead or alive, you're coming with me

There's no way this could go wrong...for instance, at the top of an escalator.

Japanese researchers in Tokyo on Wednesday unveiled a robotic mall cop, a two-foot-high security guard on wheels that can track down bad guys running amok on commercial property and disable them with a 'Spider-Man' like web.
Oh, wait, they only have single-story malls in Japan, don't they?

1 They don't really have malls per-se (at least not in Tokyo).  They have multi-story department stores of all sorts, but the 'malls' are city-style shopping areas.

True, but they do, indeed, have lots of escalators in those department stores--oh to be a professional litigant in Japan should this thing get out of the lab!

(Before anyone says Japanese courts aren't as ridiculous as our own, keep in  mind that a woman got off for sexual harassment/stalking because she 'proved' that her breasts were too big to squeeze through the opening she's alledged to have used--cause, ya know, breasts--even the aftermarket variety--are known for their rock-like, sharp-edged, firmness.)
