Computer problems finally solved and I am back for real

Don't know whether that counts as good or bad in your books but living on a laptop has blown chunks so I am damn happy.

As a part of the fix I upgraded to Windows 7 and so far I am fairly impressed. Install was very fast and very smooth. Memory footprint is a lot smaller than Vista as is the OS size itself. Pretty much have it customized the way I want with a little less than an hours work. Need to set-up a backup tonight and get Office installed again and I am ready to go. Unless something incredible stupid happens in the next day or two I am going to say MS did pretty good here.

1 We installed 7 on a laptop that didn't meet Vista specs and it's humming along nicely.

2 Welcome back! I did the Win 7 upgrade to the desktop last night and I'm doing the laptop right now and the netbook will get done tomorrow. So far, knock wood, it's going well.

3 Really, you weren't impressed with the RC? From what I heard, everyone who ran the RC said it was awesome (I have a Mac, so I didn't bother trying to install the RC myself). Maybe it was just the soft bigotry of low expectations.

I pre-ordered W7 (2 home and 1 pro) in July (1/2 price pre-sale), and I'm still trying to get through to Micorosoft Store. Infinite hold times. NO callbacks. NO emails. I'm figuring by May 2011 at this point. Fracking incompetent idiots. (I've been using a beta version - RC1 - since late last spring ...why I pre-ordered ...but this is too much: the pre-order deal was they'd ship the sunvabitch on 21 Oct.)
