When the presidential race enters the Buffyverse

I suppose we could have a worse president than Obama. Like, say, Jonathon Sharkey.

The criminal complaint says that in August 2007, a 16-year-old girl said she wrote a message of political support to Sharkey on his MySpace page. At the time, she said, he was a presidential candidate running as Jonathon "The Impaler" Sharkey.

The girl told police they began dating online. She said she tried to end the online relationship but he refused to let her. She said that "in a desperate attempt" to get him to leave her alone, she e-mailed him that she was a member of an elite vampire hunter society and for the two of them to continue their relationship would put him in danger. She said that he called her cell phone and that she answered only after he sent her an e-mail threatening to call her family.

Sharkey's public defender (what, he couldn't get some of his political supporters to spring for a real shyster?) asked for a bail reduction from $75,000. The judge increased his bail to $125,000, so he's still sitting in the pokey.

First case of Ebola-type virus in the US

In Colorado in 2008, the patient traveled to Uganda, the patient had visited a cave and encountered fruit bats, which can carry the Marburg virus.  The CDC says that no one else has been infected in the US.  For those that need a refresher, the Ebola virus is 80% fatal, and is pretty much the most horrible death imaginable, Marburg is almost the exact same virus, and produces pretty much the same terrible, terrible death.

Steelers win!

Works for me, I'm just content that Philly didn't get the chance to go to the Super Bowl.  The fact that I don't have a favorite team, I just like seeing Philly's teams and fans get crushed mercilessly, I'm doing it wrong, aren't I?
