"So far the turnout is more than we could have imagined it to be. The idea is just to go out, have some fun and spice up the night for some people who probably aren't going to expect to see an army of the undead walking the streets," said another organizer, Chris Hartsgrove.Thankfully, it sounds like no panicky Guidos with guns were on hand for the event. That could have been a disaster.
(On the other hand, the idea of a bunch of terrified Guidos being ripped apart by an army of zombies fills me with the same kind of glee that I'm sure alexthechick feels when a pair of thigh-high leather boots go on sale.)

Welcome to the world of Humans vs. Zombies (HvZ), a tag-like game that is the latest trend in campus entertainment. An HvZ game typically involves hundreds of students and runs 24 hours a day for days on end; dwindling numbers of humans try to fend off and outlast growing legions of zombies. They have a website dedicated to the game here. It sounds like fun, and it's probably good training for the coming apocalypse. The rules are fundamentally simple: Zombie tags human, human becomes a zombie. Unlike movie zombies, with shambling walks and undead makeup, zombies in the game just wear headbands to distinguish them from armband-wearing humans. And they are free to sprint.
Humans ward off zombies with Nerf guns or by hitting them with a balled-up sock — a defensive move that stuns the zombie, usually for 15 minutes. The goal is to still be a live human at the end.

Well, it appears as some "out of the box" thinkers have a plan. And it may or may not involve the military (as I am not at liberty to confirm or deny the existence of these plans), or some old school tactics.
So what would our military do? Even though the standard-issue M-16 is inferior to the Garand, we have lots of troops and bullets, assuming they're not all tied up indefinitely in the Middle East. Since zombies can't breed except by spreading their infection, containment and quarantine would be necessary to protect uninfected urban areas — typically the sort of job assigned to FEMA, which we may want to rethink. After that, the military could surround and wipe out the zombies using time-honored (and very Hollywood) tactics such as high explosives, incendiaries, and massed gunfire. The army and marines would likely do the heavy lifting, with air force and navy fighters providing close air support. As long as the military can protect the troops from infection and isn't handcuffed by liberal politicians who really want the zombies to win, we should be able to handle things. Strategy and using the stupidity of zombies against them is key, as exemplified in Brooks's recounting of what he tells us was the largest zombie outbreak in history — 121 AD in Scotland. (Also the home of the Picts, who fought naked while painted blue. Combat in ancient Scotland was definitely a trip.) Using funneling trenches, flaming pitch, and swords, a Roman force of 480 men was able to dispatch 9,000 zombies with only 150 casualties.
Rest easy, folks. Rest easy.

I still want to get my brain shaded in. I want to get it all nice and grey like hamburger meat. And then I want to get Frankenstein bolts sticking out of my head around the rim of where my scalp’s ‘cut off’.If you think some of that sounds pretty extreme, wait until you read about what he wants to do with his nose and ears.
And I’ve thought about getting my eyes blacked in. I’m thinking that in five years from now, if no one’s gone blind from it by then I’ll go and get my eyes tattooed black, so there’d just be big holes in my face.
As for tattoos, I’ve still got to get under my arms done, then I’ve got to finish the intestines and get a contour added to the demon on my chest. I’m going to get bones sticking out of my knees, my toes done in skeleton print, and have patches of muscle scattered around – with worms coming out of the wounds.

Usually I leave the Zombie posts to the professionals, but this was too good to pass up. According to Cracked.com's list of Biblical super powers, Old Testament prophet Ezekiel used his powers to create an army of the walking dead.
How did I go through 7 years of higher education at Christian schools and miss that? I swear, you'd think they'd teach me something that could actually be useful in the future.
(On a personal note, if there are any public relations people out there, I have an interview to work as a staff writer with a firm in DC on Thursday and any interview advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail is itsvintageduh-at-gmail-dot-com.)
