Old Iron and Lemur King are holding a Meeting of the Morons, if you're in the Upper Midwest, it could be fun.

One of our fellow morons is going to be attending one of McCain's townhall meetings.  Got any good questions?

Interesting maps, I'll note the much more expensive gas costs in the Soviet of Philly compared to the rest of the state, which is pretty average.  Glad I don't live in the Soviets of California, Connecticut, Mass or New York.  Yikes.

Chad got a nice email from the president of the free market boosting Universidad Fransisco Marroquin after his post about them.

More fun with Truthers.

Bar Slaves, their reader KC and Lemur King are having a Meeting of the Morons in Detroit at the end of June.  Bring an extra liver.

BBC continues their anti-Israel propaganda efforts.

We've got to look beyond the Middle East and develop a coherent strategy to deal with China and Russia and try and draw India back in. I don't think the Bush Administration cares, or is too hung up on Iraq, and I don't think McCain or Obama have it in them to develop a coherent strategy either.

Evening weekend edition, AKA, it's hot as fuck and a weekend, so pickens are slim.

"Lightworker" explained, it comes from some self-help guy, and there are Darkworkers too.  It sounds a lot like the philosophies of Open Palm and Closed Fist in Jade Empire, except in Jade Empire, philosophically speaking, (though sadly not functionally) Closed Fist can be benevolent, and Open Palm can be malevolent.

What is going on with the Air Force?  As noted in the post, this is the same base that those nuclear warheads were accidently put on a plane and cost some high ranking Air Force officials their jobs.

Good story about the growing movement for open carry, with a short detour through TLIH.  PA I believe is open carry(except Philly, I think the state legislators caved and made open carry in Philly restricted to conceal carry licenseholders), but obviously you can be told no open carry in businesses, private and public property.

Since we're talking about expanding liberty with open carry, we've gotta talk about efforts to reduce second amendment rights too.

morons deliver

If there is one thing I've learned over the past year, it's this, morons absolutely deliver when someone is in need.  You've helped both Stashiu and bmac when they faced tough situations, and Ace reports that after he posted the wish list for the troops, the Amazon wish list went from eight pages of items to six, and is now down to five.  Amazon was down for an extended period, but perhaps with it back up, there'll be more donations.

Moronosphere in the Morning!

Moronosphere PSA, we've had yet another moron move sites, this time it would be Wyatt at Support Your Local Gunfighter, his new site is here.  I've updated the Moronroll, but if you have your own roll, you'll have to change accordingly.

Jane Novak does a segment with Fox and Friends about her work in trying to liberate the Yemeni journalist al-Khaiwani.

Funneh.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about the 'Blogosphere Gap' on the right beyond the limitations it poses on gaining new readership, cuz who doesn't like to see their counter go wild? (like ours last night)  It's a great money tool, and is going to become more and more important quickly, but people have to remember how the internet works, it's on it's terms.  Some event will cause a bunch of people to jump online, looking for a new voice or to find their own, on either side.  Conservatives came online in two big bursts, the early folks in the 90's, and the latter burst after 9/11.  We're due for another at some point, and this Blogosphere gap will vanish.

We deserve the high fuel prices.  True, Old Iron at the Bar Slaves pretty much said the same a few weeks ago with a similar list of reasons.

Are we losing India to China?

Classy.  Some charity meant to help reconstruction in New Orleans is dumping a fortune into a party at the DNC Convention.

the moronosphere at blognetnews

A special thanks to the crew at BNN for allowing us morons to sully their site with our presence, and a very special thanks to Beth at MyVRWC for maintaining the Moronosphere page there.  To go there you can go to the BNN frontpage, hit the Blogdom > symbol, and there will be a dropdown that lets you access a few newsgroups, including the Moronosphere.  Or you can just do  blognetnews.com/moronosphere and it'll take you there too.  They also have RSS you can subscribe to.  You can also rate posts there.

Midday Moronosphere!

Since I forgot to post Peel's bleg the other day, I figure I'll post it a few times today.  If you've got any home improvement advice, or know of a good site or reference to go to, drop a comment over there.

Today marks the 19th anniversary of Tienanmen Square Massacre

Okay, I guess TNR is the latest set of liberal goofs to call for military intervention on the junta in Burma

Ruwe says McCain needs to make his move now to frame the debate on his strength and on his terms.  Good luck with that endeavor Maverick, the media thinks Obama is the second coming of Christ, it ain't gonna be easy.

I've heard of Death Race 2000, but I haven't watched it, they're making a remake...I'm guessing they'll ruin it.

Chad is Outraged!TM

Adios.

Moronosphere in the Morning!

Okay, I think I'll try something new today, instead of one giant linkdrop, I'm going to split it up into three or four on a busy, an early, mid, late and runoff on big days.

So let's start this off, the first is a bleg, Mrs. Peel just bought her first home and could use some advice on home improvement issues, she also wonders if any of you morons know of any reliable sites or sources for home improvement tips.  We've tackled home improvement before

Actually, bmac has some background in construction, so he may be able to give Peel some advice.  He also has a good post about his experiences with big construction sites in Vegas, and why he's not surprised by the levels of people hurt or killed at Vegas worksites.

Ladies, this is why you carry...mace at least.

FAIL

I'm not even sure how to intro this, but it is interesting.

In the NYT story about Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, it's all about the framing.

Study concludes British police serve the state, not the people.  This American could have told you that for a fraction of what this thinktank probably spent.

Democrats: We're all about freedom of speech and freedom of press, except you people in the Pentagon, shut your traps, you're fucking with our narrative.

This stupid Lieberman-Warner greenie bill is bad business.

All right, this stupid "Whitey" video needs to fucking show up if it exists.

An interesting comparison.

Bob Barr tells white supremacists to get fucked.

One moron is gonna try and get a press pass for a Maverick meeting.

Note to self:  Go easy with goofing on George Lucas.

Well, this sounds bad, and since most of the GOP sold out on the Lieberman-Warner bill, I can't say I'd be entirely surprised.  Worthless Congress.

NYTimes makes a list of reading suggestions for Maverick, chad offers some better ones.  I'd add World War Z, Zombie Survival Guide, and some Orwell.

Hmmm...I'd say the UK has become wussified, though I'd argue that it is leaving wussified and moving into fascistic.

Nice Deb offers round two of her reasons for voting for McCain

bmac offers a cathartic explanation for why he can't vote for McCain, and an appeal to the super aggro McCainiacs and fall-in-line crowd.  Fortunately, pretty much all of the moronosphere bloggers are civil about differences on the McCain question.

skinbad at IB offers a poem from the perspective of the little douchebags who trashed Robert Frost's home.

Heh.

Typical.

$1 million reward out for al-Qaeda vermin Adam Gadahn, dead or alive, happy hunting to our armed forces...they do get to collect if they bag the little fucker, right?  At the very least, the government should give the money to VA charities or something if our guys get him.

This is so wrong on so many levels I don't even know where to begin.

I like Nigel's retooling of the word "dialogue."

Hmm...I can't decide if the Ayatollah should school Obama on propaganda or the other way around.

What western badass are you?  Chuck Bronson, if you have to know.

Wow, that sucks.  Hope they can catch the bastards.

Hey, why don't you lowly plebes eat insects for Gaia?  Yeah, unless you're talking lobster, I'm guessing the answer is going to be FYNQ!

FAIL

The market did speak, but I'd say the government and it's refusal to allow a fuel supply increase had the final word.

Okay, Moronosphere PSA, one of Hotair's commenters has a book getting published, and is doing the rounds at different righty blogs, including at least one moron.  In any case, our HA commenter is running a contest to give away a few signed copies of his books, I figure some of you morons could enter.  He's got five different topics going, here's one,

4. The Entertainer. Laughter is one of the best possible things in life. This winner of this category will provide the most entertaining, funny, bizarre, and interesting submission.

God help him if any of you morons submit a story for this category.

Another PSA, The Bar Slaves are in the process of moving to a new site, which is here.  I'll be changing the new Blogrolling blogroll at some point here, but if you have the old blogroll, you'll need to update, and if you do your own roll, you'll have to change it accordingly.

Alright, on to the links!

Wheeee!  Heh, there's something about linking to a contest for a book that obviously has a spiritual/religious-y flavor to it, then immediately linking to a moronblog that offers up a daily smut dose with every post.  I love being a moron.

And speaking of contests, The Hostages are looking for the worst kid's cereal brand names.

David Axelrod, one of Obama's top advisors was making a film about fascist thug and nutty embarrassment to the Catholic church Fr. Pfleger.  Dear God this needs to be leaked.

Most of the audience walked out of the screening of Uwe Boll's Postal.  The petition is going to become superfluous, methinks.

I'd say this is a more accurate telling of what is going on then the media is offering.

Castle doctrine being considered in Ohio!  I wish every state would have it, but I know it isn't going to happen in the Soviet States of America like Illinois, NY, MA and CA.

I am woman hear me roar
as I set off all my C4

Speaking of jihad, Barry in CO came up with his own top ten rock songs of all time(his own because everyone at some point succumbs and makes their own top ten rock songs), Michael at IB declares Barry's choices heretic, and issues a fatwa.

Cute.

The only solace I find in this crappy election is that the Democrats are totally losing their shit.

Finally took this civics test, and got a 93%.  Not bad, a lot of you got 95%, and those people are bastards, but I did okay.

Nice Deb bites the bullet and decides to pick up the pom-poms for team Maverick.

Awesome.

Heh.

Segregation in Birmingham?

Pics of the latest shuttle launch.

Wow...maybe they're Pat Buchanan fans?

Paulnuts cause trouble at the MN GOP convention.  Let's hope the DNC convention is ten times worse.

Looks like we can kiss that Virginia Senate seat goodbye.

I wonder what Steyn's reaction to this pic would be?

Truth is subjective to the left.  Interesting though, liberals want to hike taxes, but a small majority of those who called themselves "very liberal" think it is okay to cheat when paying your taxes.
