fr. michael pfleger set to be latest embarrassment for obama campaign

Let me start off by saying Pfleger is an embarrassment and should have been removed from the priesthood ages ago, he is an embarrassment to the Catholic church, and the impotent response to this tool from the church leadership has been embarrassing.

In any case, some background on the not-so-good reverend.  In the early 90's, Pfleger and his parishioners pushed out shops selling drug paraphernalia.  Fine, and it sounds great, but for every thing that Pfleger does that may be good, there is tendency to dip into thuggish behavior on others, when taken with his rhetoric, it shows his true nature as an authoritarian Marxist.

After the parish drove out these shops, they then moved to pushing out alcohol and tobacco ads. Which would be fine if he had stopped at boycotts and social pressure, but when the advertisers wouldn't leave, he and his parishioners took to vandalizing billboards and signs.  And of course, because this is the Soviet of Chicago, which is a city of men, not of law, he was acquitted.  After that, the City of Chicago moved to ban tobacco and alcohol ads in select neighborhoods in a nearly unanimous motion.

Perhaps the most infamous of Michael Pfleger's antics is his continued harassment and death threat(link to audio in that post) against a gun shop owner.  In his threat, Pfleger stated the following,

"We're going to find you and snuff you out. Like a rat you're going to hide. But like a rat, we're going to catch you and pull you out."

Then consider this line from Pfleger, during his efforts to go after rappers who use vulgar lyrics(emphasis mine),

"When you disrespect women and you continue to demean a community or race by names and by language, that's unacceptable. . . . We can kill with our words."

Pfleger has pretty much been free to do as he wants, the Cardinal of Chicago refuses to crack down on this dirtbag, beyond a few weak slaps on the wrist for some of Pfleger's most egregious behavior, he has been absolutely impotent in his handling of Pfleger.

This guy is going to be every bit the goldmine of choice quotes as Wright was.  He's probably as nutty as Wright, and much more aggressive.  Allah has a few video clips, and I'm guessing there are plenty more where that came from.  I hope the GOP uses these to full effect, Pfleger and Obama go way back (H/T), not as close as Obama's relationship with Wright, but this guy and his big fat mouth will be handy.

oh, it couldn't have been because of the sensitive information that he wasn't supposed to have

James Yee, who you may remember got himself into a heap of trouble because he had lists of Gitmo detainees and workers at Gitmo he shouldn't have had, is trying to rewrite history.  He's now claiming that the real reason he got in so much trouble was because he speaking out against torture in Gitmo, and that he was tortured himself by the Bushitler's goon squad.  If you haven't heard, he's also going to be an Obama delegate in the Democrat Convention.

Yeah, sorry, I'll take Stashiu's word* over this tool about what goes on in Gitmo.  First, I'd love to know if Yee filed any formal complaints about detainee policy before he had his ass thrown in a Navy brig for having sensitive documents that he should not have had, and if he did, what they were complaints about.

Update: Speak of the devil, Stash in comments informs me that Yee's claims of torture at Gitmo comes from what the detainees told him, that Yee never saw abuse, and Yee has been on record as stating that in the past.  Read Patterico's interview with Stash linked above, and keep in mind that around how many of the released ones go back to jihadism to get an idea of what kind of people we're dealing with there, and then tell me you're really going to take them at their word.

chicago looking to re-open gun registry after democrat alderman richard mell gets caught violating registry law he helped pass

EPIC FAIL

Mayor Daley said today he's all for the idea of temporarily re-opening gun registration in Chicago -- not as a favor to Ald. Richard Mell (33rd), but to get a realistic handle on the number of guns in Chicago.

A former hunter, Mell is proposing a one-month amnesty after he forgot to re-register his arsenal of shotguns, rifles and pistols as required every year by the ordinance he helped to pass.

"Oh, oh no, uh...it isn't because our alderman got busted for being the hypocrite he is, we, uh, um, just want to get a good record of how many guns are in Chicago...yeah, that's the ticket."

So what was the cause of this violation of Chicago gun laws?

Earlier this week, Mell acknowledged that he knew about the re-registration requirement and should have complied with it. He said he delegated the responsibility to a staff member, who apparently dropped the ball.

Rule one of American politics, it is always a staffer or advisor's fault when a Democrat politician gets nailed for hypocrisy.

"He has a home in Wisconsin. He brings 'em back and forth. He's not running out with a shotgun and hurting people," the mayor said.

...

...

...Just let the meaning of that statement sink in a while.

Basically, this stupid registry was enacted about 20 years ago, and they banned all new handguns from the city, with the purpose of reducing crime...doesn't seem to have worked

Gunowners in Chicago have to register their firearms every year, or they can't register them and they would be considered illegal.

They've apparently been kicking around an amnesty proposal for a long time now, but it seems only now that an Alderman has been caught with his pants down, they're going to get around to actually doing it.  Funny how that works, huh?  Registration amnesty for me but not for thee.

I wonder how many decent, responsible gunowners have faced abuse, possibly some sort of criminal, legal sanction, seizure of their firearms or punishment because of these abusive registration laws that the Chicago politicians that created it can't be bothered to follow?

One last thing, party affiliation is not mentioned once in that article...funny how it always works that way.

al sharpton owes about one and a half million in back taxes and penalties

Saw this at Wyatt's and had to comment. That Sharpton is defiant in refusing to pay his taxes isn't new, the amount, however, is something else.  Sharpton is already spinning and demagoguing, calling it an effort by the government to silence him for doing...whatever the hell he does,

Now a U.S. attorney is investigating Mr. Sharpton's nonprofit group, a probe that an undeterred Mr. Sharpton brushes off as the kind of annoyance that civil rights figures have come to expect from the government.

"Whatever retaliation they do on me, we never stop," he told the AP. "I think that that is why they try to intimidate us."

Jackass.

Sharpton has been delinquent in paying both state taxes to New York and his federal taxes.  This is some serious change,

Mr. Sharpton's own debts include $365,558 owed in New York City income tax and $931,397 in unpaid federal income tax, according to a lien filed by the Internal Revenue Service last spring. His for-profit company, Rev. Al Communications, owes the state another $175,962 in delinquent taxes.

Keep that in mind next time Sharpton or one of his National Action Network tools calls for tax increases, soaking the rich and government programs like socialist medicine.

This ought to be interesting, if Sharpton really does owe one and a half million and is delinquent in paying his taxes, he's got to be prosecuted, but are they going to to do it as aggressively they should?  Sharpton has been defiant in the face of these debts, and has largely gotten a pass.  Let's hope they finally hold him accountable for his tax evasion.

yes we can!

...have an advisor who has regular contact with Hamas.  Yes we can!  Can we associate with terrorists, crackpots and radicals and be arrogant enough to think we can get away with it?  Yes we can!  Can we associate with Marxists, and be stupid enough to think no one will notice?  Yes we can!

did harvey weinstein threaten to cut off funding to congressional democrat campaigns?

Weinstein denies it, but CNN is saying that several of Nancy Pelosi's staffers were briefed and told that Weinstein told Pelosi in a nasty call that if Florida and Michigan weren't seated and counted or given a revote, he'll deny donations to Democrats in Congress...
