Something else that's probably banned by NetNanny

The cover for L4D2 had to be changed as it was too disturbing.  I personally think they lost something with the new cover.

Braaaaaains or braaaaaaainless?

Peel reviews Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, doesn't sound as good as WWZ to me (which is admittedly a high standard for zombie-based literary entertainment), but still sounds good, even though the author is a Marxist shitbag. Also, I just discovered this, which is one of the more entertaining About Bios I've read.

Ever Wonder About How Zombie Brain Activity Works?

Well, wait no longer.

Absent a properly functioning frontal lobe, a zombie is driven entirely by base emotions - such as rage - that are housed in the primitive parts of our brain, notably the amygdala. There's precedence for this in nature. A crocodile brain, for instance, is mostly driven by the amygdala. Researchers have confirmed this by introducing lesions into the amygdala of animal specimens: the result is a drop in the attack and retreat response that correlates significantly with the amount of damage that's done to that region of the brain. A crocodile without an amygdala isn't really a crocodile. As such, Schlozman argues, "you can't really be mad at zombies, because that's like being mad at a crocodile," adding that it's the delicate balance between frontal lobe and amygdala "that makes us human."

That balance is maintained by the anterior cingulate cortex, which modulates and dampens the excitability of the amygdala as it talks to the frontal lobe. So, when the amygdala gets all stirred up by fear, anger or lust, the anterior cingulate cortex steps on it a little bit, giving the frontal lobe time to think everything through before it sends signals toward the motor cortex and we act upon those impulses.

A zombie would have a dysfunctional anterior cingulate cortex, rendering it unable to modulate feelings of anger. The result? Hyper-aggression.

Well, considering most zombies just lurch, could you really call that "hyper-aggression"?

Boston PD is honest

Or at least, they claim they'll be honest at the onset of the next zombie apocalypse.  My theory is that we won't be hearing squat from the authorities until it's too late.

Score one for the little guy

Some British guy made a zombie movie with a camcorder, and it had its debut at the Cannes Film Festival this week.  You know how much the movie cost to make?  Just £45.  That's right, there are no zeroes in that figure.

There's no word in the article as to whether the flick features fast or slow zombies or, indeed, if it's even any good, but it's still a pretty cool achievement.  Especially when you consider the fact that he's never made a movie before, has no formal training, and says that "he picked up most of his skills from watching DVD extras and directors' commentaries."

Woody is training for the zombie apocalypse

I'm gonna use my L4D marathons as a defense next time I get the urge to punch a hippie.  Melee, melee, melee.

"I wrapped a movie called 'Zombieland,' in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character," Harrelson said in a statement issued Friday by his publicist.

"With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie," he said.
Source. IMDB link for the upcoming movie, which is slated to be released in October. No word yet on whether the zombies are fast or slow.

I'm Going To Steal The "Presented Without Context" Line

"Off the charts weird".

He often brought drugs or alcohol to work and sometimes had sex with women.

At least three of those women were dead, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said Thursday.

But if Douglas is to be believed, he could have had sex with as many as "over a hundred" bodies in the 16 years he worked as night attendant at the Hamilton County morgue.

"I am sure there are more (victims). I'm certain of it," Deters said Thursday in announcing new indictments against Douglas.

"This guy's just a pig. I can't explain why someone would do something like this. ... This is off-the-charts weird."

Douglas, 55, of Westwood, already is serving a prison sentence after he pleaded guilty last year to abuse of a corpse. He admitted he had sex with the nearly beheaded body of 19-year-old murder victim Karen Range in 1982.

Thursday, Douglas was indicted on two more counts of abuse of a corpse after DNA evidence, Deters said, showed Douglas' semen was in the bodies of two women who were killed in 1991 and stored at the morgue awaiting autopsies:

Charlene Edwards, also known as Charlene Apling, who was six months pregnant.
