I'm getting sucked into liking a politician. That's usually been bad. I liked Mario Cuomo for instance. But I also liked Ronnie Raygun and Moynihan.
Obama has his eleventy 'leventh speech and Sarah Palin writes something on facebook.
They'll both be talked about tomorrow.

One last thing: after President Obama's speech tonight, listen for which pundits use the words "false", "scary", and "risky" in describing the proposals I put forward. That's how you'll be able to tell who the White House counted as "allies" worthy of receiving its talking points.

That guarantees they'll freak out about her "whining" about them so people will hear/read about it and she wrote concisely enough that they won't be able to put ellipses everywhere.
She's learned well from  Darth Cheney.

Revenge for Porky's revenge?

Wow, just wow.
So there's a town of 174 people (No zeros are missing from that number) in Arkansas where they got a 7-man police force because of grant money. They must have been bored silly, I mean, 7 cops in a town of 127 people? That's low for a teacher/kid ratio much less cop/citizen.

Apparently, they spend all their time writing tickets.
One guy claims he got one for doing 58MPH in his driveway.
In his driveway.

So the fire chief had to go to court twice in one day to pay tickets, apparently started berating the judge, got into an argument with the cops and
The response from cops? They shot him. Right there in court.

According to the article, they shot him from behind.
The police force has been disbanded by the judge.

There's just so far you can push Americans and they're pushing hard.
 
Prosecutor Lindsey Fairley said Thursday that he didn't plan to file any felony charges against the officer or Payne. Fairley, reached at his home, said Payne could face a misdemeanor charge stemming from the scuffle, but that would be up to the city's judge.

Get it? The fire chief might be charged but not the dude who shot the guy and another cop (the bullet grazed the finger of a cop on the way into the fire chief's hip bone).
I predict a court house burned down and a bunch of wrecked cop cars if they charge the guy.
Heck, the people in that town might do it if they don't charge the cop regardless of if they charge the fire chief. They sound pissed off.

Imagine getting a speeding ticket while driving on your driveway? I might have been shot right then if that happened to me. I'd like to think I would be very disagreeable, angry and with lots of "fuck you"s and "get off my fucking property"s if that happened to me.

Huh, it seems that evil Chevron caught the judge in an enviro-wacko suit against them in Ecuador taking a bribe to rule against Chevron and deny them an appeal.

A pattern?

So in our previous episode, we have Officer Wesley Cheeks, Jr. threatening to arrest a protestor because Officer Wesley Cheeks, Jr and his unnamed accomplice didn't like the picture on his sign.
Now, we have a realio, trulio police officer removing a protestor because a congress-critter told him to.
Not because of any laws broken, but because he had the bad manners to point out that his congress-critter had bused supporters in.

Removed because a congress-critter didn't like his question. He was being no more disruptive than anybody else there and yet, he was removed.

We can't let what happened in Britain happen here, we need to nip this in the bud. They can't use the power of the state to shut us up, we have to expose this and make sure people like congress-critter Carol Shea-Porter are sent back to the jobs they're qualified for such as Starbucks baristas.

Officer Wesley Cheeks, Jr. and his accomplice in crime (they didn't name the other officer who explained you don't have free speech when on school grounds) should not be in uniform, in my opinion. Well, non-prisoner uniforms anyway, I think they should be in prisoner uniforms. .

Abusing the power of the state to shut people up unConstitutionally should not be.
It happened in Virginia at my congresscritter's townhall, Jim Moran, which makes me even madder. This stuff is supposed to happen in North Korea, China and Massachussetts, not Virginia.

It wasn't clear, but I gather Officer Wesley Cheeks, Jr. is possibly a school security guard.
So was he impersonating a police officer by threatening arrest? Can a high school security guard arrest people?
I know some colleges' security forces can detain you for arrest, but this guy threatened arrest.
Looking around, it appears that Fairfax County Police have some school program.

You've seen the story, it's a sidebar and a post at Ace's.

So the investigation into Richardson was "killed in Washington".

Okay, so is this fucking America or what? How can he totally subvert the rule of law in 8 months? Isn't there a body not controlled by Obama that can do something about  this?

I only mess with law talking folks, I don't know any laws except the few I use.
So isn't there some way somebody in New Mexico can bring suit? If not them, then who has "standing"? What is the "controlling legal authority"?

The Founding Fathers were smart guys and had possibly a lower opinion of people than I do (and that's saying something), it was certainly at least as bleak.
So I find it hard to believe they didn't plan for just such an occurrence.

If the GOP wants to get some street cred, trying to stop Obama running roughshod over the law would be a good start.
For probably the first time in my life, I'm saying this to politicians:

Don't just stand there. Do something!

Oh, and fuck Minitru for allowing this to happen while keeping quiet.
They're collaborationist scum abusing their rights and I can't say how low my opinion of them is.

In other words, they didn't start out with the idea that WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!1!!! from global worming and fit their data to prove that.

They looked into and found out how and why it happens, they actually did real science and probably risked a sure Nobel Prize by not finding that the Sun has minimal effect on the temperature because CO2 generates heat in a complex nucleic reaction with smog.

Read the article, they explain how it affects the stratosphere and the Pacific Ocean, they talk about how it changed cloud cover. No global warmmongering article ever mentions cloud cover and most either ignore the Sun or have unnamed "experts" or Erlich say it doesn't matter much.

I wonder, will they ever get a job in climatology again?
I hope so.

Scopes trial for global warming?

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, trying to ward off potentially sweeping federal emissions regulations, is pushing the Environmental Protection Agency to hold a rare public hearing on the scientific evidence for man-made climate change.

The EPA is having none of it, calling a hearing a "waste of time" and saying that a threatened lawsuit by the chamber would be "frivolous."

EPA spokesman Brendan Gilfillan said the agency based its proposed finding that global warming is a danger to public health "on the soundest peer-reviewed science available, which overwhelmingly indicates that climate change presents a threat to human health and welfare."

They should cover it, it'll have everything a good news story needs. Crazy people (on both sides), disillusioned activists, Momma Moonbat and rich liberals on the Vineyard getting upset at a leftist protesting their messiah.

His "platform" consists of low taxes, securing the borders, smallening gov't, and his health-care-cheapening plan is get the gov't out of healthcare and tort reform.

We've all seen those stories popping up about the rise of right wing hate groups.
That's another part of the most hated parts of the 90s returning. There were always right wing hate groups stories and then that terrorist fool McVeigh allowed them to crow about it.

Well, here they come again, and while I knew something about the Southern Poverty Law Center, I didn't really feel like doing all the research involved.

Thoughts on Palin's resignation

Not sure what it is she's doing.  A part of me thinks she's had enough, and is leaving the political realm.  I wouldn't blame her, and I'd never fault her, I've never seen such a vicious assault on the character of another human being.  It will still be a huge coup for the left, the media and the RINOs and their one party regime if that is what she's doing. 

A lot of people think she'll run in 2012 or 2016, and she's leaving Alaska to devote herself full time to getting ready.  Entirely possible, and I hope that's what she's doing.  This is going to sound counterintuitive, I think most people would tell her to lay low, do private dinners for Senatorial, Congressional and Gubernatorial candidates, and study, study, study, I think she needs to do that, but laying low is not the way to go for any more than six months.  There's one thing Palin has that no one in the GOP leadership has, and that's political charisma, and the ability to speak and lead. 

She needs to start small, speaking for some candidates running for offices, and use that to rebuild and reorganize her base of support, then start doing her own speaking appearances until she's drawing big crowds like she was during the 2008 election cycle.  She should go light on doing the political endorsement stuff.  She needs to ignore the media completely, working through talk radio and friendly websites and social networking sites. 

Starve the media, walk right by NBC's fucking cameras, and talk to the conservative blogger with the Handi-Cam.  She's also going to have to stage a coup against the GOP leadership by cutting their knees out from under them.  She needs to become the voice of opposition to Obama and the Democrats.  Actually, it might be more filling a vacuum than staging a coup. 

She's not going to need, or want much of the establishment's support.  She shouldn't expect the establishment's help.  They'll betray her.  Besides, who needs the establishment when you can assemble an army of volunteers in no time?  I bet she could rival Obama's organization if she plays her cards right.  The fact that she and her family have been savaged by opposition is only going to make that more intense.  This is a huge part of what fuels the Palinistas zeal for defending her.

There's going to be a strong thirst for revenge against the left, the media, the RINOs and the inverabrate GOP leadership, either in 2012 or 2016, and if Palin is up to the task, she can lead the charge.  Gonna be interesting.  All that said, if the GOP doesn't find someone to lead and rebuild things by 2016, the whole party is going to collapse.
