Whoa: Report says that Tim Russert has died of a heart attack

I'm stunned, I would have never guessed.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Russert's family.  Russert was only 58.  The New York Post is reporting that he collapsed in the NBC offices and later died.

1 Russert was better than most of his colleagues, although I suppose that's damning with faint praise.  NBC interrupted their broadcast of the US Open for the announcement, which was fine, but Brokaw (who looks and talks like death warmed over at this point) treated it like some head of state had died.  Gotta love that insular media.

2 Gah, the Kossacks sicken me.  A bunch of them over there are looking at Meet The Press like a pack of hungry dogs looking at table scraps.  They're over there plotting to push NBC to put Keith Olbermann in Russert's chair.  Unbelievable.  I guess I'll give due credit to those Kossacks who have enough basic human decency to tell the others to knock it the fuck off, but blech.

Why not Michael Moore?  Or Rosie O'Donnell.  She's not doing anything except expanding at an exponential rate.

4 Thanks MP, I could have done without that vision.

5 My first thought after I heard that he died was please don't give it to Olbermann.  Horrible of me I know but what can I say I am a selfish turd.

6 I take a nap and all hell breaks loose!

Sad news.

7 No way Olbermann gets that. He'd never get a guest.

8 Oh, of course not, and it's ridiculous that they're even suggesting it, I highly doubt they'd put an open partisan like Olbermann on as the MTP replacement.

I'm just flabbergasted by the poor taste and lack of basic decency and respect these people have.  I know, I shouldn't be because we've seen worse from them and have grown to expect worse from them, but for some reason today it just hit the wrong note for me.
