Please don't kick me out of conservatism

I'm sorry, I just don't know why Joe Wurzelbacher being featured at the Conservatism 2.0 Conference with Glenn Reynolds and Michelle Malkin?

To me, this dude's on his 47th minute of fame.

1 Well, he's more conservative than our candidate was.  Not sure how two-point-oh he is, but again, probably more-so than our candidate was.

The J-T-P thing was one of the few memes that cracked through into mainstream coverage this fall, although mostly to crucify Joe W.

2 Yeah, if this is supposed to be a small summit on using new technology and organizing methods to promote conservatism, wouldn't you want someone who works at building just that?  Nothing against Joe, but wouldn't you want someone from The Next Right (as just one example) or, God help me, like Hugh Hewitt?  Someone who actually utilizes new technology in a creative/effective way?

3 All true Joe (the Sockless one, not the plumber), but he still seems out of place for the venue.  CPAC might make more sense.

4 The fact that he wasn't afraid to ask Obama a hard question goes a long way.  Especially in light of the media's failure, and McCain's failure, to do the same.

5 I agree with Sockless Joe. The republican party spent millions on a candidate that wasn't conservative. Joe the plumber was more conservative than "McCain the complete asshole." The more real conservative faces at any conservative gathering the better. And don't get me started on Hugh Hewitt. I could not figure out why the nerdiest conservative kept hawking that piece of crap Politico. Dumb me just couldn't figure it out until I heard a month ago that Hewitt is now writing for them. Could not believe it. ASS.

7 " Internal server error", that's my excuse.

8 I think it makes perfect sense if you want to get publicity.

9 Fair point.

Aside from the publicity value, I think it's also a statement in regard to elitism.  Many of the 'elite' republican commentariat showed their true stripes during this election (especially vis-a-vis Palin).

Personally, I'll trade Peggy Noonan for Joe the Plumber any day.

11 But the thing is, there are plenty of non-elitists out there who can more accurately speak to the subject of the conference.
