DC Mayor Reacts to Heller

Mayor Adrian Fenty's full statement is here. Key, predictable, quote:

“I’m disappointed in the Court’s ruling and believe introducing more handguns into the District will mean more handgun violence,” said Mayor Fenty. “But I want to emphasize that at this moment, our gun laws remain in effect. It may be several weeks before there are changes to announce.

“In the meantime, I have directed the Metropolitan Police Department to implement an orderly process for allowing qualified citizens to register handguns for lawful possession in their homes.
I checked the web site of DC's only Republican City Council member, but there wasn't a statement.  Get your act together, Carol.

If I lived in DC, I'd go buy a gun and then file an injunction today to have the ban considered void.  Being that it is and all.

Dear Mr. Mayor:

Scalia bitchslapped your little law like it deserved.  You do not get to whine that it's still in place until you can try to pass something to wiggle out of it.  NO CAN HAZ!

Helpfully, me

2 Yeah, I was wondering what made Fenty think he's the man issuing the black robes.
