I saw at Ace's that Sen. Kit Bond is retiring.
Short of a challenge from the Carnahans, he would have won reelection.
I hate to channel Allahpundit, but this seat will probably become easy pickings for one of the late Governor's children unless a viable Republican steps up. Off the top of my head, the leading contender would be Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.

I was disjointed in that last comment. I was trying to mock the fact Allah and now Ace's defeatism seems to tie nicely with media reports. And we know that one of the reasons The Deciders report news the way they do is to try to sow panic in the conservative side

I don't read election 'analysis' anymore. Sitting around analyzing and griping isn't going to get conservatives elected. Neither is just pushing whatever comes down the pipe (eg. McCain).
This is the time to be proactive and try to do something about the multitude of problems within the GOP (assuming one wants to work within the current framework). If AP were actually interested in doing something about it, he'd be pushing for reform of the nomination process, among other things. Apparantly, he'd rather whine and post athiest crap in order to rile up his audience.
I suppose that's good for HA readership and participation, but it does nothing to advance a conservative agenda.
