60-40

Under the cover of darkness. There isn't even anything up on the news sites yet.

Update: So, here's the WaPo on this shit...

The 60-40 tally, taken shortly after 1 a.m., followed 12 hours of acrimonious debate and required senators to trek to the Capitol in the aftermath of a snowstorm. The vote was the first of three procedural hurdles that Democrats must cross before a final vote on passage of the measure, now scheduled for Christmas Eve.
Why? Why did they feel the need to do this at 1 a.m.? Why did they feel the need to do this when their offices went directly to voicemail? (And I tried calling both of my California Senators, even though I knew it would be a futile gesture.)

Because they know this is a shit sandwich, and the people they claim to represent can't stand it.

November, 2010. If we don't make a statement then, we never will.

And FUCK those whores and sluts who voted for this piece of shit. Fuck all the perks the whores got for their state and the sluts who just gave away their goodies for FREE. Fuck Nebraska, Louisiana, and Vermont who are getting more fed help with their medicaid because they need it. You know, Michigan will help those fuckers out, 'cause we've got GREAT funemployement numbers here. FuKC. (crap, Sunday's homily didn't take AT ALL with me)

4 I listened to Dingy Harry speak long enough last night to hear him assert that it was the Republicans' fault for the 1-am vote, and to think otherwise is silly.

If I gave a shit I could probably look up the exact language, but it reminded me of Soviet era political-speak.

What Carin said...in spades!!!  Guess my homily didn't take either, darn it.

FUCK those motherfuckers!!  Such a wonderful bill...that they exempted themselves from it because it's so damn good....blood of babies on their hands and they are going to force us to pay for it.

Gee, Nebraska....how does it feel to have the rest of the 49 states finance YOUR indigents on Medicaid for FUCKING FOREVER?

Ho, ho, ho now being replaced in the dictionary with the names:  Landreiu, Lieberman and Nelson.

FUCK YOU assholes, FUCK the horse you rode in on, and the dog who followed.  BIG FAT FUCKING FAIL!!!

6 Hey, this had to be voted on at 1:00 in the morning because our Fearless Leader hath decreed that health care is a problem of such overwhelming importance that we have to act Right This Very Minute(tm) to enact a sweeping bill that won't actually go into effect for four years.

You know, like the Porkulus bill that had to be passed to prevent a systemic economic collapse but wouldn't actually spend any money until sometime next year.

That sort of an emergency.

Yes, why have the vote in the dark of night?  Why do it Christmas week when many Americans are distracted?  Why do you have to bribe a half dozen or so Senators?

Because seen in the light of day and without the payoffs, the bill wouldn't have passed.

Now we get to watch the House and the Senate try to crush these two bills together.  It'll be like that Mythbusters episode, when they had two semi trucks crash simultaneously into a car to see if they fused together.

At the end, you just had three broken pieces of shit.  And snarky Mythbusters laughing about it.

Too bad this won't be anywhere near as amusing.
