DeMint Endorses Rubio

Sweet.

This cycle, DeMint plans to take a different tack with his Senate Conservatives Fund; instead of simply making donations to his preferred candidate, he plans to ask his 20,000 supporters to help raise the maximum allowable limit for the endorsed candidates — a process known as “bundling.” A person familiar with the PAC said that DeMint is expected to endorse between three and five candidates this cycle.
I wouldn't have supported this action, except that the NRSC (who I have helped in the past) endorsed Crist and other senators did as well.  I don't think these GOP/Senate PACs should endorse in party primaries, for what it is worth. It stirs up strife among the party, with finger-pointing and accusations of unfairness. Let the candidates run on their merit in the primaries and then go full force in the general election helping them.

I am opposed to any Republicans discouraging other Republicans from opposing an incumbent or the "fair haired candidate" in a primary election.  I hate to break it to these folks, but these Republicans in power do not OWN these senate seats. The people do.  And the people are tired of the manipulation of the process with their attempts to stifle a particular ideology in their own party in the name of power and the good ole boys club. We can successfully be a "big tent" if they would stop trying to control the mechanics of the process and let the people decide who BEST represents their viewpoints on the majority of issues.

Or perhaps that is what they fear the most.

A Tribute To Not Backing Down

As we all know by now, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will not exit the political stage just yet, and that has her detractors up in arms and flinging yet more shit her way. But why?

I dunno for certain, but I have one idea, and the recent Letterman dustup and the back and forth afterward convinced me of one idea why. It's because she won't back down when attacked.

Letterman, Olbermann, Matthews, Couric, Lauer, Powerline, Noonan, Parker, Brooks, Frum, and the Beltway GOP once again unleashed their nastiness and savagery upon her, and what did she do? She fired back, and she fired back without mercy upon her enemies. She reduced Matt Lauer to a stumbling mass of jumbling live on National TV. She has caused the pundit class and MSNBC to twist themselves into a pretzel over her response. And David Letterman and his enablers have made themselves look foolish in the process of trying to spin this away.

All because she won't back down. All because she refuses to abandon the battlefield and "Play Nice". They have no idea how to deal with that. She is once again in their OODA Loop. And it is fucking awesome.

Too bad too many shitbags ostensibly on our side are not rallying to her defense. That's too bad, because she will take them all on by herself, and they will have missed the lesson about what happens when you finally counterpunch.

All in all, fuck anybody sideways who doesn't defend Gov. Palin now. She has rejoined the battle, and is standing there, damn near by herself, and she has them running from her, reduced to name-calling and refusals to debate her. And anybody who is unwilling to stand with her should be ashamed.

Yet Another Example Of Why Conservatives Need To Do Only Live Interviews

Sarah Palin destroys the uber metrosexual Matt Lauer.

Hey Matt... Matt... OK Matt I would say that you and anybody else are extremely naive to believe that very convenient excuse of David Letterman's. It took him a couple of days to think of that excuse and 'Uhhh... No, he wasn't talking about my daughter that was there with me at the game, the 14 year-old. He was talking about some other daughter.' Well I think it was a weak excuse and regardless it was a degrading comment about a young woman and I would hope that people would rise up and decide it's not acceptable. Why do young girls have such low self-esteem in America when we think it's funny for a so-called comedien to get away with making a similar remark as he did....

Oh and a message to all of the Kathleen Parker, David Gergen, Powerline, Beltway GOPers:

I Thought Sarah Palin Was A Dumb Snowbilly Who Couldn't Get Anything Accomplished

Well, I may have to reevaluate that statement in light of this announcement.

From a press release:

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – June 11, 2009 – TransCanada Corporation (TSX, NYSE: TRP) (TransCanada) today announced that TransCanada and ExxonMobil have reached an agreement to work together on an Alaska gas pipeline.

TransCanada’s Alaska Pipeline Project is designed to deliver a reliable and secure source of clean energy to markets for decades to come. With an initial forecasted capital cost of US$26 billion, the project would provide a variety of benefits to Alaska and Canada, as well as the rest of the United States, including substantial revenues, jobs, business opportunities and new, long-term stable supplies of natural gas.

“TransCanada’s Alaska Pipeline Project will connect Alaska’s natural gas resource to new markets. We are pleased that TransCanada and ExxonMobil have reached agreement on initial project terms to progress this exciting initiative,” said Hal Kvisle, TransCanada president and chief executive officer. “TransCanada envisions that our combined activities with ExxonMobil, along with the support of the State of Alaska, the U.S. and Canadian governments, and other interested parties, will result in the timely completion of the project. Today’s announcement is an important step toward that goal.”

Rich Kruger, president of ExxonMobil Production Company, said, “ExxonMobil and TransCanada have the experience, expertise and financial capability to undertake this project. We have on-the-ground knowledge of Alaska and Canada, experience working in the Arctic, a strong history of technology and innovation, and the proven ability to build and operate projects of enormous scale in the most challenging environments.”

GOP coup in the Soviet of NY Senate

Two Democrats who are more social con have defected to the GOP, giving control of the NY Senate to the GOP,

After the results of the vote were read aloud, the in-house television station that carries Senate proceedings live in the Capitol went dark. All that appeared on the screen was a still photo of the Senate chamber and the words “Please stand by.”

Reminds me of the coup in Thailand a few years ago, all the TV stations had nothing but pictures of the King and patriotic songs playing.

Of course, both of these guys are being investigated, so who knows, this could just be a ploy to try and make the Democrats in NY call in some favors and make the investigations go away.  I wouldn't put that past any NY politician.

Darth Cheney Definitely Is Inside The Deciders' OODA Loop

I mean, I know that once he steps into a room, the temperature may drop ten degrees, and he has a unique talent with cougars, but can he really be this awesome?

JEANNE CUMMINGS {generic Beltway MSM Hack}: I think that the country actually suffered a setback this week. This debate was supposed to be about edifying the reasons why the Bush White House had its policies and Obama has their own policy, but if the presumption is Guantanamo was going to be closed either Bush, McCain, or Obama, it just got much more difficult this week because the Vice President made it political. He went on shows saying basically “I don't want to be the member of the House who sees terrorists brought to a jail in my district.” And that changed this debate in a way that has made it much, much harder to close Guantanamo, which the President is already committed to doing.

....

CUMMINGS: Cheney really did damage to the effort to keep our country secure by turning this into a political issue. We were going to have to deal with this and to make it a political issue is not helpful. It's just not.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER {second in line in the Awesome Olympics behind the Dark Lord}: Cheney is the one who turned it into a political issue? I thought it was a 90-6 vote in the Senate. Just about every Democrat in the Senate-

CUMMINGS: No, Cheney started making political arguments a week ago. That is when you did start to see the tide turn up on Capitol Hill. It was after Cheney started to talk about “I don't want to be the member who says I brought a terrorist to a jail in my district.”

KRAUTHAMMER: Oh, so Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, says he that will not allow any terrorist out of Gitmo onto American streets or even in American jails -- it's because he had heard it from Cheney and was hypnotized into believing it?

CUMMINGS: Not hypnotized. Cheney hit a nerve. There's no doubt about it, it's a good political argument. It's a strong one.

Well, duh, sweetheart. After all of these years, do you not know with whom you are tangling when you invoke the Dark Lord's name? Let me refresh your memory.

Hopenchange vs. Darth Cheney: Guess who wins

"How many other people are able to put a sitting President so on the defensive that he has to schedule a major speech to rebut him?"

Not many, and here's a hint: David Frum ain't one of 'em.

But hey, if you like stupid chicks, I'm sure Meghan McCain is somewhere in the country looking to be consoled.

I hereby nobly volunteer myself

Since I think we can all agree that Steele's tenure as RNC chair has been, how to put this, less than fabulously successful, I hereby nobly volunteer to take over.  You're welcome.

Here is my list of the Top Ten Ways in Which Alex Will Be Better As RNC Chair:

1.  100% more likelihood of girl on girl action
2.  Way, way, way better shoes
3.  Nearly a 1:1 probability of making Chris Matthews cry on air
4.  The chance to hear the phrase "Swilling Val-U-Rite and killing hobos" on one of the Sunday talkshows
5.  All proper respect will be shown to Darth Cheney and Bolton's Mustache
6.  Actual conservative ideas will be articulated
7.  Chance to see a chart of the deficits and the RNC Chair saying "Dude.  Seriously.  Dude."
8.  High probability of Olbermann's head going all Scanners
9.  Will respect the Eleventh Commandment in public
10. Strong probability of showing up on This Week wearing a Zombie Reagan shirt.

I think my case speaks for itself.

I don't see Sasha and Malia going this route

Former US Representative Bob Schaffer has raised his kids right - both of his twin daughters are entering the military.

Bob Schaeffer, who lives in Fort Collins, Colo., said the commencement was the second day in a row of celebration for his daughter, Jennifer Schaeffer.

“She was commissioned yesterday as a second lieutenant in the Army,” Schaeffer said of Jennifer, an ROTC student majoring in finance who graduated magna cum laude.

Bob Schaeffer said Jennifer’s twin sister, Emily, just graduated from the Air Force Academy. He added that Emily won’t be commissioned until the end of the month — making one twin the other’s ranking superior for about three weeks.

“So Emily was being reminded of that by Jennifer all day yesterday,” the proud dad said with a laugh.

Dig deep, Senator Specter

Remember when Senator Specter said he would refund all campaign contributions from Republican donors? Guess what. Looks like the GOP has the nerve to ask for their refunds!

Sen. Johnny Isakson didn't waste any time putting himself at the front of the refund line. The Georgia Republican asked Mr. Specter for a return of his leadership political action committee's $5,000 contribution Tuesday on the Senate floor - just hours after Mr. Specter announced he was changing his political stripes.
Not only are four other senators asking for refunds, but the chairman of the PA GOP has requested that Specter give all GOP donations back voluntarily, not just upon request. And he thinks Specter should apologize for misleading Republicans.

Do you think these folks are a little bit steamed over this? Heh.

"I reject your premise"

Says Jindal, on the Four Words,

Jindal described the premise of the question -- "Do you want the president to fail?" -- as the "latest gotcha game" being perpetrated by Democrats against Republicans.

"Make no mistake: Anything other than an immediate and compliant, 'Why no sir, I don't want the president to fail,' is treated as some sort of act of treason, civil disobedience or political obstructionism," Jindal said at a political fundraiser attended by 1,200 people. "This is political correctness run amok."
*snip*
Jindal, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, told the Republican audience he would "not be brow beaten on this, and I will not kowtow to their correctness."

"My answer to the question is very simple: 'Do you want the president to fail?' It depends on what he is trying to do."

Four words in response, Jindal gets it.

Some Senate Republicans suddenly grow a pair

Moar, please:

Senate Republicans warned of deficits that could climb to $20 trillion in coming years and a weakened dollar if Obama and his Democratic allies get their proposed $3.6 trillion budget plan passed.

"The practical implications of this is bankruptcy for the United States," said Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H. "There's no other way around it. If we maintain the proposals which are in this budget over the 10-year period that this budget covers, this country will go bankrupt. People will not buy our debt; our dollar will become devalued."

That's the kind of stuff we need to be hearing from GOP politicians. It gets even better, though. It seems Obama's budget plan is such a disaster that even Susan Collins, R-DNC HQ, isn't on board:

"It would double the public debt in 5 years, triple it in 10 years. ... That is not sustainable. It poses a threat to the basic health of our economy," Collins said.

It would be nice if you'd taken a stand like that against the Porkulus bill, but I guess it's better late than never. I'm sure she can still be bought off, though.
