Well, Well, Well...

Looks like things are going downhill fast for Tim Mahoney. Now his wife is filing for divorce.

She filed a petition Monday in Palm Beach County court seeking the dissolution of their 23-year marriage and possession of their Palm Beach Gardens home.

The petition also claims Tim Mahoney moved money from a joint account to one in his name. It seeks "a full accounting of all funds spent or dissipated by the husband within the last two years" - the period since Mahoney was elected to Congress on a "faith, family and personal responsibility" platform in the aftermath of the Mark Foley sex scandal.

Neither Mahoney nor his wife could be reached for comment.

ABC News first reported on Oct. 13 that Mahoney had an affair with former staffer Patricia Allen, whom he fired this year and later agreed to pay $121,903 to stop her from filing a lawsuit.

The next day, Mahoney and his wife made a two-minute appearance before reporters. The congressman didn't directly address the affair but acknowledged causing "pain," declared it a "private matter" and vowed to press on with his reelection bid.

Three days after that, Mahoney gave a series of interviews in which he acknowledged "multiple affairs" and said his behavior was wrong but did not violate any laws or his oath of office. Asked to define what "multiple" meant, Mahoney would only say "more than one."
