Was there life before Obama?

The only way this could be any more pathetic is if the person who mailed in this postcard was using a Head O State* while YouTubing.

I'm trying to guess what the postcard submitter did to relieve depression prior to Obama's winning the presidency, and coming up blank. Any ideas?
