More creeping theocracy in America!

They told me that in George W. Bush's America, politicians would tie Jesus Christ to their political party. I guess they were right:

The Democratic nominee in Utah's 3rd Congressional District told The Salt Lake Tribune that Jesus would vote for him if he had the chance.

Bennion Spencer is writing a book about how Jesus would view certain policies. He says Jesus would oppose making President Bush's tax cuts permanent and that he would support a "very compassionate" immigration policy.

Spencer later backed away from his statement and told the newspaper he isn't sure whether Jesus would vote for him.

Now, this may in fact be true.  If Jesus, using his real name Barack Obama were a registered voter in Utah's 3rd District, he may very well vote for Mr. Spencer.  But alas, Jesus makes his home in Chicago and Washington, DC these days.

Spencer is running against one of my favorite House candidates this year, Jason Chaffetz, who became the GOP nominee after beating a pro-amnesty RINO in the June primary.  You can contribute to his campaign here
