I don't want any more bears!

Since I promised a rant for a rant, I feel that I must hold up my end of that deal.

The following is my reaction to the Prop. 8 map and to Tom Hanks decreeing that those who opposed Prop. 8 are unamerican.

Below the fold due to possible overuse of profanity.
Dear Those Who Have Decreed Themselves Representatives Of All Queers:

You don't fucking speak for me. You never have. You never will. And you know what? I would like to motherfucking congratulate you, you fucking jackasses, for doing something that the Evangelical Christian community never has. You've made me ashamed to say I'm queer.

If you want to put your religious bigotry on display, go right the fuck ahead. BUT DO NOT FUCKING CLAIM TO DO IT IN MY NAME.

You know, I have seriously considered slamming the closet door behind me and then bolting it shut. But fuck that. Fuck that sideways with a chainsaw. I am no less queer because I do not support gay marriage. I am no less queer because I disagree, vehemently, with the idea that religious based opposition to gay marriage is per se bigotry.

You don't get to define my sexuality by compliance with your politics. You. Don't.

So fuck you. There's no non-bigoted reason to be against gay marriage? Really? How about my reason, namely that I believe that it is none of the government's business to recognize or regulate marriage on other than a contract basis. So, hell, if a group of 10 male first cousins wants to contract to marry? Mazel tov! Seriously, saying that there's no non-bigoted reason proves nothing other than that the person making that statement is utterly fucking unaware of the many and varied theories of politic thought. Or, succinctly, a fucking moron.

Oh and don't even, don't EVEN CONSIDER, going on and on about how opposition to gay marriage is per se homophobic and then turn around and clap with glee about Obama's election without paying at least lip service to the fact that he is against gay marriage on religious grounds. See some of us look at that and see a glaring fucking contradiction. If religious opposition to gay marriage is per se homophobic, then Obama is per se homophobic and voting for him is supporting homophobia. Hey, I'm just taking the proposition seriously and to it's logical end.

Oh, what's that? It's different? Uh. Huh. Or, possibly, just, you know, fucking MAYBE, it's not per se discriminatory and that entire proposition is idiotic. And it's idiotic even when there's an (R) behind someone's name.

You're not going to make me shut up or apologize simply because y'all don't want to acknowledge that I exist. If you don't want me? I don't care. Because I'm not going away. I'm not shutting up.

I'm here. I'm queer. I don't want any more bears!

Hate and whatnot,

Alex
