Parody just died a painful death

Here's Andrew Sullivan (no link per doubleplusundead editorial policy) discussing the way in which the press has treated Barack Obama:

Bad for journalism? What journalism? The MSM let this farce of a politician go an entire campaign without a single real press conference...That's how you find out who this delusional phony truly is...I think the press should be right in front of powerful people's faces. Right there. Unblinking, so to speak.
Hahahahahahahaha! Just kidding. You know who he's really talking about.

Racist, Bitter Clinger Blasts Obama And Calls His Competence Into Question

Oh, I'm sorry. I should have written Peggy Noonan instead. But you get the point.

The president, in my view, continues to govern in a way that suggests he is chronically detached from the central and immediate concerns of his countrymen. This is a terrible thing to see in a political figure, and a startling thing in one who won so handily and shrewdly in 2008. But he has not, almost from the day he was inaugurated, been in sync with the center. The heart of the country is thinking each day about A, B and C, and he is thinking about X, Y and Z. They're in one reality, he's in another.

Fuck you, Peggy. You fucking helped foist this monstrosity upon us. You helped give a "bipartisan" credence to him with your support. You lauded his Ivy League background and his elitism over that snowbilly with too many children and her "racist" allies. You fucking helped run cover for him. You called those of us who called his lack of experience to task every nasty name in the book that your cocktail circuit uses to describe us unwashed masses.

And you want a do over? Fuck. And Double Fuck No. You are partially responsible for this mess, and we will not let you forget it. Get fucked, and take a memorial mudball with you as a reward for your efforts.

Dear John Meacham Of PBS:

Fuck you. Seriously, fuck you thundercock style in the fuckstorm of lightning and fucking with the flying fuckbeagle of fuck's fucking evil stepbitch's tongue.

Fuck you for year after fucking year of Bush = Hitler shit, snuff pr0n fantasies about Bush and the US troops, Code Pink vandalism, SEIU violence, attacks on recruiting stations, and so forth, for saying that the written word calling for lawful opposition to Obama's policies equals terrorism. Fuck you and your intellectually fucking paucity for trying to tie Lee Harvey Oswald (huh?) to the folks who oppose Obama. Fuck you for damn near hoping that violence does occur so that you can blame your opponents for it. And fuck you fuck fuck fuckity fuck style from the fuckdumpster of fuck and refuckingcycling for not knowing what the fuck you are talking about.

You want violence, Fucklick McFuckstain? Look at any leftist gathering. You'll see plenty of it there. But I guess that's OK to you, right? I guess union beatings are OK, right? I guess naked shower attacks on Capitol Hill are OK, right? And I really fucking guess you see nothing wrong with people being bussed into a neighborhood to trash and desecrate the house of a FUCKING PRIVATE BUSINESSMAN who stands in the way of your agenda, right? Well, fuck you, for I will not tolerate it.

No, I will not fucking tolerate the lies and bullshit you promulgate. I will not tolerate the violence that your side performs (and you ignore). And I will fucking the gash of glory not tolerate your lies to go unreported. Fuck you, John Meacham. Fuck you in a time warp.

No, John Fucking Meacham, let me briefly educate you on how I view the world. I have been blessed because of my schedule to spend four full days with my daughter, and nothing has filled me with greater joy than to see her running around, innocent and free, or to hear her squeals of delight from petting a stingray at the zoo or finally seeing a real fucking rainbow. This little critter peacefully sleeping in her room is entitled as an American to the widest array of opportunities ever to face humankind. And the policies of your side? They fucking want to ruin those opportunities. You are content with ruining my daughter's future and making her a wage slave to Big Brother and The Angry Worf for her life. And you see no problem with telling her to get in line and suffer like the rest of us.

Well, fuck you, John Meacham. I will not tolerate that. I will not stand for my child getting hosed because of people like you and the ideas you endorse. And I will fucking Gaia damned fucking do whatever it is I can LAWFULLY do to take you and your agenda and give it a Gloryhole Goatse of Ghastliness that would cause an overworked Thai Pr0n0 star to say, "Damn! That's too much!" But you know what I won't do? I will not behave violently, unless you come onto my property or violate my person. I fucking believe in the rule of law and the Constitution, and I will not fucking act like a fucking domestic terrorist. And as much as I politically disagree with Obama, I will not fucking tolerate anybody who wishes him harm, which you seem to project upon us.

Fuck you, John Meacham. I love this country too much to become what you think I am because of my politics and my hopes for my daughter. And fuck you for thinking so. Go to fucking hell, John. And get xylofucked by reality for good measure.

***BTW, thanks to Sean for a comment at H2 for inspiring me.

Here's a question

Gas prices have dropped 20 cents per gallon here over the last week or so.  Does anyone else remember gas dropping that much that fast right before Memorial Day?  Because I sure don't.

Now this is political theatre

I don't agree with Mickey Kaus' politics (duh) but I really love his campaign for Senate out in California. First, there's the whole put up or shut up aspect to it. He doesn't like how Boxer's voting. He's been very critical of the direction of the Democrat party. So he's running to try to change that. Good on him.

Second, we get complete awesomeness like replacing Boxer with a cardboard box at a debate.  But wait!  There's more!  Not only did he replace Boxer with a box, he called the box ma'am and then had a campaign worker play the "can you call me Senator" audio clip.  That's awesomecakes with a side of awesomesauce.

Wait! So Obama Can't Solve Everything?!?

No link to him, but John Cole admitted that The Messiah can't solve everything, and he and his ilk are flailing around for answers and a way to spin for him:

I know that no matter what I say, some of you are going to claim I am shilling for Obama while others of you will read the same piece and claim I am unfairly attacking Obama, but I have a serious question- what exactly is the Obama administration supposed to do about the oil spill?

I’ve thought about it, and there are some things that really have pissed me off:

1.) BP keeps missing deadlines they themselves set to cap the spill

2.) BP keeps trying to hide the size of the spill anyway they can, whether it be using dispersants to keep the oil under the water so no one can see it, refusing to allow independent sources access, or just flat out lying.

3.) The government is, as we speak, issuing more permits to drill, even though it is perfectly clear we aren’t prepared for this kind of catastrophe.

Of course, the obvious damage to the gulf and the wildlife has me livid, but these are specific things that have pissed me off about the government and BP’s response. I also almost through something at the wall yesterday when I read Jake Tapper report that the Coast Guard called BP their “friends.”

Having said that, I just don’t know what the administration is supposed to do. What can be done? That, I think, is the real lesson from this- that we can’t really do anything about this sort of disaster, and i think the administration has done a really shitty job of getting that message out.

Heh. And yet, when Bush was in charge, well, we know the answers Cole would and did give, so let's just savor the hypocrisy here.

And his comment section is even better:

Guster

Call the head of BP and remind him that extrajudicial assassinations are legal for high value suspects who are implicated in the use of weapons of mass destruction against the United States.

And I thought the "Teabaggers" were the violent ones. Care to repeat that comment, pal?

And this:

Paul in KY

I just posted in another thread, we ‘temporarily’ nationalize all their American assets, then run it with the understanding that we’re gonna use as much of the assets as we need to rent American or other countries vessels (civilian and/or military) to carry huge amounts of concreate or make a fucking siphon that works or whatever the Hell it takes (using their money to do this) until the gusher is capped. BP made 18 billion in profit last year. They may so far have lost/used 800 million in aftermath of explosion. There’s alot more m oney that can be thrown at this thing & if they don’t open up the pocketbooks & pay till it hurts, then we’ll start writing their checks for them.

Also, Pres. Obama needs to use the bully pulpit (more) to point out what happens when businesses like these are not regulated & he can either explicitly or implicitly mention which party doesn’t like regulation.

If the head of BP is not visibly quaking in his topsiders, then Pres. Obama hasn’t gotten his points across (IMO).

Nice. Threaten and bully a business. Way to go.

Seriously, this is so fucked up, I am in awe of their stupidity and willingness to admit as a defense of their guy that he's only human.

As Ace has said, "We lost to these folks?"

Philadelphia wins again: Philly considering sinking USS Olympia to create a reef or scrapping it

The title of course being a reference to the phrase Africa Wins Again.  Anyway, the Olympia was an armored cruiser built in the late 1800's, Olympia played an active role in our seizing the Philippines from the Spanish in the Spanish-American War, and is the last American warship still afloat from that war.

Olympia was Commodore Dewey's flagship during the Battle of Manila Bay, in which US Naval forces launched a devastating attack on the Spanish fleet in the Pacific, inflicting devastating losses on the Spanish Pacific fleet and a coastal battery, the US Asiatic Fleet only suffered one fatality during the battle, the Chief Engineer of the USS McCulloch's heart gave out during the battle.  Due to Dewey's actions at Manila Bay, he was promoted to the rank of Admiral of the Navy, a rank that only Dewey has held.

After the Spanish-American War, Olympia was an active training ship and was used to bring the Unknown Soldier of WWI back home.  She was decommissioned in 1922.  So, they're looking for a benefactor now.  You can't tell me that between the residents of the greater Philly area, Navy history geeks, Navy vets and their families, the state and Feds and wealthy donors, they can't scrounge up the $20 million to do the needed repairs.

Heart of stone redux

So. A Mass. Dem who voted against an amendment prohibiting illegal immigrants from getting welfare and other state benefits got violently rear-ended by a v v drunk suspected illegal immigrant.  Did you see the part about the guy laughing off the charges?  And how he can't get reported to ICE since Mass is a sanctuary state?

Here. Have a musical tribute to this.

Actual homophobia

Malawi gay couple sentenced to 14 years hard labor for being gay.

What's the reaction?  The UK, Malawi's largest donor, expressed dismay but isn't cutting any aid.  The US thinks this is a step backwards in human rights.  Amnesty is campaigning to get them freed.

I have yet to see any major celebrity call the entire country homophobes.  I did see this on the Logo twitter feed so there's at least one queercentric business (and Logo is a business never forget that) who was appalled.  I haven't heard much of anything from what's known as Gay, Inc. though, honestly, that could be because I stopped paying attention to HRC et al years ago.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I think people sometimes forget that there are portions of the world where it is actively dangerous for me to take a breath just because of who I want to bang.

Why on earth would anyone think there's a problem with the Mexican border?

I mean. It's not like there are Mexican pirates on a Texas lake or anything.

Okay, let's get the snark out of the way first - Chuck Norris would roundhouse kick the boat right out from under them.  Let's send the Australian ninjas over to settle the pirates v. ninjas controversy once and for all.  One Ranger, one riot, one Skidoo.

Now that that's out of the way, pirates. On a Texas lake.  With machine guns.  Why the HELL have they not been shot dead?  Seriously, where are the Rangers?  Where is the police protection?  Since this is a cross border excursion, where are the Feds?

This is an all out assault on American citizens by those from another country.  Hell, yes, I want mortar rounds shot at them.

h/t commenter over at Head Moron's in the Euro thread.  (sorry closed the tab and can't remember who)

Hahahahaha! Hah. Hah. Ahem.

I can't even pretend to sum this up any better than Deceiver did.  Read the whole article, but here's a taste of some awesomesauce for ya:

On Monday, President Obama signed the Daniel Pearl Freedom of the Press Act, a measure that gives the federal government an oversight role in tracking international press freedom issues. He then promptly refused to take questions from the press.

Posts like this one are why Deceiver continues to be a guilty pleasure.

Consequences

Los Angeles decided to fuck with the bull, and now, it might just get the horns:

Writes [Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary] Pierce to Mayor Villaraigosa, "If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utiltiites to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-base generation. I am confident that Arizona's utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands."
The letter Pierce wrote to Villaraigosa is characterized as "tongue-in-cheek," but I have a feeling that this shit could get very real very soon.

Good riddance to really bad rubbish

Specter is finally out of office.  This was long, loooooooooong overdue, and the truth is, it should have happened before, but the Bush administration intervened and saved Specter's ass.  How'd that work out, dumbass?  Ideally it would have been a Toomey/Specter matchup, with Toomey exacting sweet, sweet revenge for the primary loss he had against Specter.

I think Toomey's got this either way, but I think it'd been much easier with Specter, which means it'll take more resources to win over Sleestak, but it can be done.

Illinois is broke

...and they don't even offer IOUs like the Soviet of California, they just don't pay their bills, and they've got about $6 billion in unpaid bills and funding.  Naturally, the Democrat governor is proposing a tax hike to deal with the issue.  I'm thinking we need a We're Out Of Fucking Money, Stupid category for the sidebar.

The "Blame Bush" Mantra Has Jumped The Shark

And Matt Yglesias (he of the JournoList, so you know that the rest of the leftysphere has this one in their pocket, ready to strike with it) officially renders it comical.

By 2009, of course, Barack Obama was already in the White House. But it takes time to staff an administration and take charge of an agency. Current MMS director Liz Birnbaum didn't take office until July 2009, months after the exclusion was granted. More to the point, the dysfunctional attitude of MMS managers reflected problems that were deeply ingrained under the previous administration.

The stupid in that quote is so towering, I cannot even begin to tackle it.

There will be blood

I've heard the mutterings for awhile now about how the Dems want to come after 401(k)s. I'll admit, I've chalked it up to some paranoia because, sure, the Dems might be stupid and might view what's mine as theirs, but they're not suicidal.

It's not looking so paranoid right now.  If the Obama Administration is stupid enough to try to take people's 401(k) funds, there will be blood in the streets.  I don't mean that in a figurative sense.  There will be actual blood in the streets.  Note, that I am not encouraging that, I am stating that I believe that will be the result (see re twitter bitching about descriptive v prescriptive statements).  Hey, if someone wants to put money into a government run annuity program voluntarily, go right ahead.  It's that whole voluntary thing that's key.  It is not paranoid to note that a government program that starts as "voluntary" may very well not end up that way.

I don't remember the exact figures, but there are trillions of dollars in various types of retirement accounts that the government cannot get their hands on right now.  If that changes?  Yeah.  I see an end to the protests being peaceful.
