I saw this a few days ago, but held off posting it, since the claims made by this guy are a bit dicey, and he is a lefty more upset that a declining Specter spells a Toomey victory. And the thought of kicking a man who is apparently in decline kinda bothered me.
But, I slept on it, and said, "Fuck It! Let's air it!" I mean, how many shady to downright phony allegations of health/mental condition/sexual proclivities/etc. have the lefties used over the years in an effort to defeat a candidate, sway a vote, or impact a policy paper? In that case, why can't we use unscripted video clips against them as well, especially when a big time lefty utters something this interesting?
Look… Does anyone think Specter makes the mistake he made with Bachmann 5 or 10 years ago? 5 or 10 years ago, does he awkwardly climb up on the stage while his primary opponent is being interviewed at an event ? At least Kanye West was drunk!
Dementia isn’t something you wake up with one morning. It’s not something that comes upon you suddenly… It’s a progressive affliction.
The problem for Specter and Pennsylvanian’s {sic-ed}trying to decide who to support in the primary is that the decision is one they’ll be saddled with for six years (assuming Specter can beat Toomey). If Specter is showing signs of dementia today, they are pretty mild. He’s still capable of campaigning, legislating and, in general, doing what he needs to do to be relevant today. The problem is he can do all that with 95% of the capacity he had 5 years ago. But next year where will he be? 92%? 90%? 80%?
So, enjoy this guy, Democrats. He's your problem now.

The White House's response to the stink about Mirandizing the Christmas Day bomber? Well, well, the Republicans KNEW! IT'S THEIR FAULT TOO! ELEVENTY!
Let us go through the Fail about this.
1. Saying in FBI custody =/= knowing that he was going to be treated as a normal criminal and not a terrorist.
2. What were the Republicans supposed to do? Say unmirandize him? Deciding to put someone under the protections of the criminal justice system is kind of like being a little pregnant. Either you have the rights or you don't.
3. To belabor this point, The Won won. He's in charge of policy. The Republicans can (and should) bitch about it, but the Republicans aren't in charge.
4. What are we, six? Last I knew but Moooooooooooooooooooom Timmy did it tooooooooooooooooooooooo was not an acceptable excuse.
5. Do I look that stupid to believe that the Republicans are at fault for not, idefk, storming the castle, hauling him out by his hair and flying him to Cuba in one of Cheney's black helicopters? Because that's the implication I'm getting.
I understand wanting to deflect the blowback on this. But this is aggressively stupid.
That poor chicken.

Althouse talks about how the NY Times writes about how smart Palin is in her post-governor endeavors.
Of course, they don't mention how they called her an idiot and a runner-awayer when she resigned.
It looks as if they're going to reuse their Bush template on Sarah Palin, she's becoming a Machiavellian Idiot.
That one always made me laugh.

The politicians thriving at the moment are the ones who embody this live-for-the-today mentality, those best able to call for the impossible with a straight face. Take Scott Brown, the newly elected Senator from Massachusetts. Brown wants government to take in less revenue: He has signed a no-new-taxes pledge and called for an across-the-board tax cut on families and businesses. But Brown doesn't want government to spend any less money: He opposes reductions in Medicare payments and all other spending cuts of any significance. He says we can lower deficits above 10 percent of GDP—the largest deficits since World War II, deficits so large that they threaten our future as the world's leading military and economic power—simply by cutting government waste. No sensible person who has spent five minutes looking at the budget thinks that's remotely possible. The charitable interpretation is that Brown embodies naive optimism {as opposed to the "calm and reasoned" approach of the reality based community?-ed} an approach to politics that Ronald Reagan left as one of his more dubious legacies to Republican Party {and it worked pretty well, no?-ed}. A better explanation is that Brown is consciously pandering to the public's ignorance and illusions the same way the rest of his Republican colleagues are.
My response:

She wasn't without insurance after all. It appears that she had catastrophic care insurance with a $5,000 deductible. Oh, she also was a small business owner who apparently decided to use her savings to invest in the business instead of going to the doctor. Also, note how the story doesn't even begin to acknowledge the inherent contradiction between the whole no insurance meme and discussing how her evil insurance company wouldn't cover a treatment. Well, now, doesn't that rather concede she had insurance?
Look, I am sorry for her family and friends that she died. But she chose to turn her illness into a political issue. Pres. Obama then used her death for political advantage. It is now fair game to see if the claims being made are true. Apparently, the story being given is less than accurate. She did have insurance. She does not appear to have been impoverished. It reads to me like she made a very very bad choice to ignore her health and paid a terrible price. That's awful. But it's not an indictment of the entire health care industry. She did not die from lack of insurance/lack of health care. She died because cancer is an utter bitch and cuts people down with no regard for anything at all. Life is horrible and unfair. That doesn't mean that there's some evil Big Insurance Monopoly that is injecting people with cancer while laughing ala Snidley Whiplash.
Not only did Obama turn her death into an ode to himself, the story isn't even accurate. Of course it's not. Did anyone think it would be?

In his wisdom he has pronounced this as proof that the economy is recovering. I question that assertion. My personal interpretation is that job losses have slowed because employers are having to look harder for someone to fire. But hey maybe that's just me. I think the more important number would be unemployment. Look at the chart - It's a bell shaped distribution so if you had no other context you would assume that we are back where we started in 2008. 5% unemployment. Instead we are twice that with no real signs of that changing soon.

Talking at length about his 26-year military career, {State Rep. and potential opponent John J} Loughlin, who now runs Media-Rite, a television, radio and film production company, said: “We must treat our adversary for what they are — not as ordinary criminals, but as enemies in wartime. That means military justice,†he said, “not civilian court trials where they are granted the right to remain silent and the right through the legal process to obtain sensitive information.â€
His announcement coincided with the release of a Channel 12 poll that found 59 percent of those surveyed said they would vote to replace Kennedy (28 percent) or at least consider another candidate (31 percent). Only 35 percent said they’d vote to reelect him.
Keep on believing nothing will happen to you, Patches. Keep on believing that your name in New England will insulate you. Keep believing that Scott Brown was a fluke, an aberration, a non event. Keep thinking that as the moving vans empty out your offices this fall. And keep thinking that as the FAILCock slaps you in the face with defeat.
And, Patches, this is for you.

You mean to tell me that high taxes will drive people out of a state and adversely affect that state's fortunes? Get the fuck outta here.
This was not always the case. The study – the first on interstate wealth migration in the country — noted the state actually saw an influx of $98 billion in the five years preceding 2004. The exodus of wealth, then, local experts and economists concluded, was a reaction to a series of changes in the state’s tax structure — including increases in the income, sales, property and “millionaire†taxes.
“This study makes it crystal clear that New Jersey’s tax policies are resulting in a significant decline in the state’s wealth,†said Dennis Bone, chairman of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and president of Verizon New Jersey.
The report was commissioned by the state Chamber of Commerce and the Community Foundation of New Jersey to study the effects of wealth migration on charitable giving after executives noticed more affluent philanthropists were moving away. Wealth includes assets such as real estate, stocks, bonds, 401ks, mutual funds and vehicles.
I hope Gov. Christie gets the message and does something about it.

Okay, I hate to say that I saw this at the New York Times, but, well, I did. Anyway, Murray Hill Incorporated, a "liberal public relations" firm, has decided in light of the recent Supreme Court decision allowing corporations to donate to campaign funds - a decision justified under freedom of speech - that a corporation now strictly means an individual. As such, Murray Hill is going to run for Congress in the Republican primary in Maryland 8.
I wish I were making this shit up.
Check out their first campaign add. Seriously.

My favorite is the title (Oh the humanity!), but there's plenty to go on.
It looks as if Ace's comments threw up all over the place.
"I am Dick Cheney's cock" and "Show us your tits" deserve honorable mentions.
Since they're ignorant leftists, I fully expect them to use one that I'm sure an Ace commenter put there
Peace in our time!

Sec. of State Galvin, I suggest, with all due respect, that you STFU and get out of the way. After all, Sen. Brown (wait I need to roll around in that . . . annnnd back) won and as the President believes, that's what counts.

Yup it says that and "I don’t have a choice as a Muslim to accept or reject teachings."
Hey, good for him for addressing this and saying what he said. Now, everyone who believes that if a Jewish or Christian chaplain said that, that chaplain would still be at Vanderbilt, raise your hand. Yeah, I don't think that either.
Vanderbilt's response is great and lovely and inclusive and hey we listen to all points of view even if we disagree. Sure. Yup. I am going to believey face the hell at them because I have a sneaking suspicion that if a Christian student said something like that, that kid would be up on some type of hate crime charges.
Do I think the guy should be disciplined, run out of town on a rail, etc.? Nope. I do think that Vanderbilt should be willing to extend the same tolerance to all religions, even those icky Evangelicals. Somehow, I don't think that is the case.

In response to the email fiasco and other global warmmongering follies, this global warmmongering "journalist" writes
Quote
"I feel I’ve been had."
How about go screw you moron? Mea culpa most certainly not accepted by me.
You were voluntarily had and were among the hordes who viciously attacked those who refused to accept ridiculous claims at face value.
The ones who are still not allowing real science to be done. We can't know how anything affects the environment anymore because you're only doing science these days if you're trying to prove WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!! from global worming.
When I used to question the ridiculous claims while saying, "I don't know what to think about global warming but doesn't this claim seem ridiculous?" I was called names and I was called even worse names as the claims got more and more ridiculous and I became more and more sure it was a big scam.
Expect to see more and more of these as more and more revelations like basing global warmmongering scare predictions on anecdotal evidence of hikers. They'll try to say, "It's not my fault!"
Yes, yes it is.
You tools went along with it voluntarily and called me names for questioning idiocies like 100 mile long glaciers disappearing in 30 years or the yearly predictions of the North Pole being ice free this year (and yet, it stubbornly refuses to be ice free).
There are none so blind as those who poke themselves in both eyes with global warmmongering bullshit... or something like that.
And yes, I'm going to be mad at every one of these fools who writes this. Apologize for willingly going along with the fraud, don't tell me "I've been had."
You wanted to be had. End of story. It made you feel better about yourself because you were more caring and more educated than I was.
Now go sit in the corner and think about what you've done and then come back and apologize for allowing yourself to be had.
Obama voter and global warmmonger mea culpas are worthless without admitting it's your fault and specifically apologizing to me for calling me names for being right before it was fashionable.
So in short, fuck you and the Al Gore you rode in on you anti-science zealot.

After a year of The O-bots uttering phrases such as "I Won", calling any and all opponents every "-ist" in the book (and making a campaign of nothing but said insults), and using immature sexual slang to describe those on the other side of the aisle, they come up with this?
Addressing a gathering of Senate Democrats, Obama promised to "call (Republicans) out when (Democrats) extend a hand and get a fist in return {so..."fisting" is now bad in Barry's world?-ed}."
Yeah. My reply to the Whiner in Chief:

A story about a window manufacturing company isn't particularly sexy or fascinating. But it's these kinds of wink wink nudge nudge deals that people understand. Look, maybe there's nothing at all improper going on there. But it certainly looks fishy.
I've mentioned before that there's a huge political corruption scandal that's now over a year old up my way. Much of it is this kind of stuff. Company A gets the bid for the new school because Company A gave a little something something to a councilman. People understand business being slotted to Friends of because that happens on the local level. Sure, there's some tolerance for this. I joke that the only reason to run for sewer commission is to get your idiot nephew a job. But push that far enough and people get ticked. It's not something impersonal, it's your company and your cousin's company that didn't get that bid because somebody knows somebody. That's personal.
Again, maybe this is all on the up and up. That certainly didn't stop the shrieking from the Left about Haliburton and Cheney (pbuh).
