Obamacare speech fizzles

Support for Obamacare back to pre-speech levels.  Amazing that we've been able to bog this abortion of a plan down without any help from the GOP.

Too bad, so sad

I just read that the annual freakfest known as the "How Berkeley Can You Be?" parade has been canceled.

If you're a glutton for punishment and would like to see some of the marchers from one of the previous parades, and I can't stress the following nearly enough...

***HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT THERE IS NO WAY THAT THERE IS A BENEVOLENT GOD WATCHING OVER US THAT COULD POSSIBLY ALLOW THIS STUFF TO HAPPEN AND IF YOU WEREN'T ALREADY CONVINCED THIS IS A REALLY SERIOUS AS A HEART ATTACK CONTENT WARNING***

DUmmies are funny

Look at this guy crying (DU link) about the fact that protesters are pointing, laughing and taking pics of an Obama poster that is covered in horseshit from a police horse.  They're all crying about how depraved and evil those darn wingnuts are...then someone responds with this in that same DU thread.  Some sweet delicious FAIL for us this morning.

Compare and Contrast

Rachel Carson, author of "Silent Spring", a piece of shoddy science that has probably caused many millions of deaths by making up crap about a useful pesticide that slowed the spread of malaria by killing mosquitos.

Norman Borlaug, a guy who has saved what has been estimated at a billion people using actual, real science and making high yield, low pesticide wheat.

His efforts to help Africa were stymied by our tolerant, intellectual betters in EUnuchstan because he was making "Frankenfood".

So on the one hand we have a mass murderess who used shoddy science to kill people and she is feted in leftist circles.

On the other hand we have a guy who alleviated starvation for billions using science, and for that he can never be forgiven.

This world sucks sometimes.

Since this needs to be out there as much as possible

The lovely, polite and restrained response to Pres. Bush's 2005 State of the Union address.

Fuck the MSM.  Fuck Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.  Fuck every single person who is now getting the fucking vapors because one person FINALLY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD stood up and actually spoke Truth To Power.  Fuck them all with the barbed cock of Satan.

We elect representatives.  Not Kings.  Not Rulers.  Not Noble Philosophers Who Are Our Betters.  Yes, that includes the President.  Should there be respect for the Office of the President?  Hell yes.  But that respect goes out the window when the person holding it pisses all over it.  President Obama went after a private citizen while standing in the biggest bully pulpit in the world.  Don't give me any bullshit that he didn't call Palin by name, everyone knew who he was talking about.  That's terrifying.  Seriously, it is.  Yes, she's a big girl and can take of herself, but that's also not the point.  The point is that it is pretty damn apparent that Pres. Obama doesn't really think he's the President of the United States.  He thinks he's the President of the Liberal United States and the rest of us are Nazi, racist, birther wanna be assassins.  Fuck yes I'm holding him responsible for what the Democratic leaders are saying.  He can tell them to STFU and FOAD if he wants.  He hasn't.

I'm going to repeat my question - what am I supposed to do when the President doesn't think he's *my* President?  Seriously, I'm supposed to lie back, think of the flag and take it when my character, intelligence and dignity are attacked for having the audacity to disagree?  Fuck.  That.  Shit.  Sideways.  With.  A.  Chainsaw.

If the Left doesn't like these rules, they shouldn't have played by them.  Payback's a bitch.  And so am I.

Fuck You, Richard Cohen

Fuck you, you fucking unimaginative fuckstick. This has to be about the eight thousandth fucking time you and your circle jerk of cocksmokers waiting for the fleet to arrive for Shore Leave have brought up the "Obama's critics are racist" meme. For fuck's sake, Richard, when I try to think, it goes as well as Chris Farley's Chippendales tryouts, but even I think I could have pulled something more original out of my ass than this.

But when the fringe starts pushing into the center, then attention must be paid {like when Obama was nominated?-ed}. In general, the Republicans in the House treated Obama disrespectfully, and some of them treated him with contempt {as opposed to 2001-2008?-ed}. When opposition to a piece of legislation turns swiftly into disdain for the man -- when policy becomes personal -- a columnist is permitted to wonder why {I repeat my snark from above-ed}. He is permitted, furthermore, to wonder if some of Obama’s more hateful critics are not expressing a repressed bigotry -- the feeling that the man up on the dais cannot really be the president of the United States {here we go-ed}. After all, he does not look like one {what, you were expecting a Klingon?-ed}.

It would be an awful thing if genuine criticism was labeled racist and therefore muffled {which you are doing right now-ed}. But the disrespect shown Obama seems so disproportionate to the issue {and yet, when Obama disrespects us, we are supposed to take it and smile? Fuck you-ed} -- health-care reform -- {wow. So, fucking up 1/6 or 1/5 of our economy deserves only the Dartmouth Debating treatment? Good to know-ed} that I just have to wonder. Wilson later apologized for his outburst, but he cannot take it back {and yet, every Dem never apologized for their treatment of Bush-ed}. It was, as has been said of another incident, a teachable moment. I hope he and other Republicans learn from it {yeah, and nobody is talking about the speech. Obama upstaged again-ed}.

Yeah, Richard the Reacharound, we learned that we should not allow the Government to fuck up the economy even more without a fight. Maybe Wilson was wrong for what he did, but so the fuck what? Who the fuck are you to project sinister and dark motives onto those of us who are a wee bit cautious about what Obama wants to do to this country? Who the fuck are you to tell those of us to shut up, while your side called Bush 43 every name in the book? And who the fuck are you to tell us how to act?

Fuck you, Richard. Fuck you with a staph infected locker room urinal cake.

Thanks to Veeshir for the tip.

Further Proof That Liberalism Is Dangerous And Deadly To All Americans

This story about what happened to four Marines killed in Afghanistan has me so angry, I am afraid of what I might say, so I will merely provide the link and the quote.

U.S. commanders, citing new rules to avoid civilian casualties, rejected repeated calls to unleash artillery rounds at attackers dug into the slopes and tree lines — despite being told repeatedly that they weren't near the village.

Jimmy Carter Should Have Stuck To Building Homes For Poor People, Vol. 219,993,928,011,272

Out of respect for a former President (the title/office, not the man), I will refrain from trashing Jimmy Carter for his latest batch of stupidity regarding Israel.

But I will link to this beatdown of Carter's views.

Most inaccurate of all, and most bizarre, is Carter's claim that "a total freeze of settlement expansion is the key" to a peace agreement. Not a halt to terrorism, not the building of Palestinian institutions, not the rule of law in the West Bank, not the end of Hamas rule in Gaza -- no, the sole "key" is Israeli settlements. Such a conclusion fits with Carter's general approach, in which there are no real Palestinians, just victims of Israel. The century of struggle between moderate and radical Palestinians, and the victories of terrorists from Haj Amin al-Husseini to Yasser Arafat, are forgotten; the Hamas coup in Gaza is unmentioned; indeed the words "Hamas" and "terrorism" do not appear in Carter's column. Instead of appealing for support for the serious and practical work of institution-building that the Palestinian Authority has begun, Carter fantasizes about a "nonviolent civil rights struggle" that bears no relationship to the terrorist violence that has plagued Palestinian society, and killed Israelis, for decades. Carter's portrait demonizes Israelis and, not coincidentally, it infantilizes Palestinians, who are accorded no real responsibility for their fate or future. If this is "the Elders' view of the Middle East," we and our friends in that region are fortunate that this group of former officials is no longer in power.

Wisconsin Unemployment Hotline Is So Fucked Up, It Drops 86% Of Calls.

Well played, Wisconsin. Well played.

The calm, recorded voice of a woman says: "To speak with the next available claims specialist, press 0."

But about 86% of the time, the caller is soon disconnected with a simple "Goodbye" from the calm, recorded voice of a man.

The callers still don't know why their unemployment checks haven't hit their bank account, and they can't ask a live person any questions.

"Those checks were my lifeline to pay my bills," said Jeff Sohns, a laid-off wholesale mortgage broker from Wauwatosa, whose unemployment insurance checks were held up for four weeks in August while he waited for the agency to sort out questions about his job search.

The worst part, Sohns said, was he tried to call the inquiry line at least a dozen times but still had no idea why his checks weren't coming or how to fix the situation.

"This whole month, it's been a nightmare," said Sohns, who finally received his weekly checks last week after he got through to a claims specialist and discovered information was missing from his file.

Officials with the Department of Workforce Development said the phone system drops calls so people don't sit in a queue for too long.

State employees and unemployed workers say frustration levels have been boiling over because of the situation.

Public Investigator reviewed eight months of call center data after hearing that laid-off workers were unable to find out what was happening with their checks.

The review shows that on average, about 62,000 calls made to the unemployment inquiry line were dropped during each week of August - more than 86% of all calls that came in. That includes people redialing multiple times after they were disconnected.

Why go after Van Jones?

Just because he's black, of course!!! After all, Van Jones is just some non-entity that nobody had ever heard of...

"It struck me, why go after this guy? He is a minor player, he has no power, no budget, why take him? It's because he looks like Obama and he has all those same attributes of being well-educated and he’s an electrifying speaker with an elite education," said John Anner, a good friend of Jones and former chair of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, an organization Jones founded in Oakland.

Of course. He's just some nobody without any power (which is the way I've always viewed people who work in, uh, the White House) but on the other hand...
Mr. Jones was on Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world before he entered the White House. He was a bestselling author before he entered the White House.
That's a quote from "An aide to NAACP President Ben Jealous," who also claims that Jones quit "so that the nation's reform agenda will not be sidetracked by those who spin lies for profit."

It's as pointless as ever to ask this question when someone like Jones (or his now-former boss, for that matter) is confronted with his past statements and/or associations, but, well, what "lies" are you talking about?

Noted Campaign Strategerist And Elections Expert Charles Johnson Offers Some Advice To The GOP

So, Charles, you are willing to say that this will backfire on the GOP, eh?

How so? This was not a GOP-led effort, since those idiots couldn't arrange a frozen banana stand. I can't recall a statement by any GOP official or politician the last few days regarding Van Jones. What statement did John Boehner, Michael Steele, Mitch McConnell, or Eric Cantor make on this deal that anybody recalls?

Besides, how many GOP campaigns have you run or managed? In fact, are you even still in the GOP, or were you ever? And what world do you live in where you believe that the African American community (where Obama has damn near 99% approval anyway) will hold Van Jones against us? But I am soooooo glad to know that holding a light up to Obama and his associates somehow is a bad thing. Thanks for letting me know. Thanks for letting me know that for Ed Meese, Judge Bork, John Tower, Clarence Thomas, The Palin Family, Joe the Plumber, etc., we are the bad guys for exposing Van Jones and his public statements. If that makes me a bad guy, then give me my black hat and whiskey bottle.

No, Charles, this effort was led by bloggers, many of whom used to consider you an inspiration and an ally only to be spit upon by you over the last few months as crypto-Nazis/birthers/evangelicals/creationists/or all around bad dudes, and TV/radio personalities. You are just upset that your anger at Glenn Beck (who I think is a loon myself) and certain bloggers who learned first hand about your penchant for stabbing allies in the back to advance your own agenda were able to raise enough suspicions about Van Jones and his past. Suspicions that you, in the past, would have mentioned yourself. But you chose not to do so, preferring to attack the attackers. Why? Because of Glenn Beck? Because of Ace? Because of Malkin/Allah? Because of Twitter? Because of Rush? Because you no longer wanted to be associated with these people? If so, that is petty and flies against your own claim of trying to always be rational. Not that that matters anymore. You have done your best to sever any and all ties with your former compatriots, and yet, in a Classically Ironic Sense, Kos and Huffpo really don't want you either.

So, Charles, I thank you or Rathergate and the Hizbollah Fauxtography, but now, I must bid you adieu. Bye now, enjoy hunting those Nazis under your bed and in your closet, and get off this site.

Uh-huh

You've gotta love how fast the MSM/White House managed to spin the Van Jones resignation:

President Obama's environmental adviser Van Jones resigned from his post late Saturday evening after he came under fire for a series of inflammatory statements he made about Republicans, the White House said early Sunday morning.
Yeah, that's why he resigned. Because of the whole thing where he called Republicans "assholes."

Oh, wait, maybe it was his "inflammatory statements" about Republicans like George W. Bush and Dick Cheney being behind the 9/11 attacks. Except that he never really said or believed that. Yeah.

"I'll Take 'Political Hypocrisy' For $500, Alex."

As we all know, MA has high taxes. NH has (relatively) low taxes. So, guess what a MA politician who voted to raise booze taxes (bastard!) was caught doing recently?

Yup. You guessed it.

And what's even better? He was using his State-issued car, complete with State Representative plates and the sense of arogance we all have come to know and love from our political betters.

The witness, who requested anonymity, claimed he approached Rodrigues, noted his State House plate, and asked if he was on personal or official business. Rodrigues, who was loading booze into his car, snapped “mind your own business,” the witness said.

451 here I come

I own nearly all of Joyce Carol Oates' books. While I frequently want to throw the books across the room, I have, up until now, greatly admired the skill involved.

No more. Not after this.

The key part?

Yet if one weighs the life of a single young woman against the accomplishments of the man President Obama has called the greatest Democratic senator in history, what is one to think?

What is one to think?  I can answer that question quite simply.  One is to think that the author of such a question is a moral idiot who should be shunned from all polite society.

What the ever loving fuck is wrong with people? What the hell is it that was so motherfucking special about Ted Kennedy that women are not only turning a blind eye to his longstanding history of misogyny but are actually claiming that Mary Jo's death was a small price to pay.

This is vile.  It is appalling.  It is disgusting.  It reveals the utter loathing for individuals that lies at the heart of much liberal thought.

For the first time in my life I'm actually tempted to burn some books.  Generally, I keep a firm distinction between the artist and the works, if only because otherwise there would be almost nothing for me to read/watch/listen to, etc.  But this is a point too far.

I cannot for the life of me comprehend speaking this out loud, let alone telling the whole world.  It's nice to know I can still be shocked and horrified.
