TPMDC leans towards the latter, speculating that she is laying down cover for a yes vote on health care.
The Washington Monthly seems to think it a little more likely that she may jump the GOP ship.
Personally, if she is just going to cave and vote with the dems anyway, I would prefer that she cross the aisle, but other wiser people probably have a bunch of reasons why that is a bad idea.

"What is this movement you keep talking about in the speech?" the president asked Latimer.
Latimer explained that he meant the conservative movement -- the movement that gave rise to groups like CPAC.
Bush seemed perplexed. Latimer elaborated a bit more. Then Bush leaned forward, with a point to make.
"Let me tell you something," the president said. "I whupped Gary Bauer's ass in 2000. So take out all this movement stuff. There is no movement."
And yes, I'm throwing this in DJ Drummond of Wizbang's face, because DJ gets all sandyvagged when you criticize his dom personal Jesus, George W Bush. Drummond feels the need to be a twat to conservatives who criticize W, so I report this with a certain amount of glee.

"Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope," Jenkins said to the crowd. "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, who are Republican, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington."Lynn Jenkins is from Topeka, home of a mental institution and Westboro Baptist Church, so I suppose we should expect a little of teh crazeh from her.

Mike Murphy, late of the 2008 McCain Presidential Campaign Clusterfuck.
Look, I at least give Murphy credit for one thing, with this article, he is one of the few McCainiacs who have not hidden behind anonymous leaks in their efforts to trash Sarah Palin. And I would have ignored this article, for it would have been nothing more than a rehash of the David Frum/Allahpundit/Peggy Noonan/Beltway GOP/RINO bullshit, save this little nugget:
Unfortunately for McCain, the actual swing voters, the independents who do determine the winner of the election, didn't buy into this fantasy at all. After a three-week sniff, most couldn't run away from Palin fast enough.
Yet even after she helped cost McCain the election, Palin's great charm endured, at least among many grass-roots Republicans. At least until her astonishing self-immolation during a hastily organized backyard press conference last week, where she gamely competed with honking geese to resign midterm as Alaska's rookie governor. Today, in the wake of that debacle, it is puzzling to many outside our party how some Republicans can still see her as an appealing candidate for the party nomination in 2012. This begs the question: Why is there still so much Republican love for Sarah Palin?
Ok, first of all, fuck you sideways, you fucking syphilitic pack a day smoker of a bag of fuckholstering cocksmokers, you were part of the campaigns of the two worst Republican Nominees for President since John C Fremont, so fuck you and your losing streak right there. The Democrats reward this sort of failure (see Shrum, Robert), not us.
Secondly, you assclown, people didn't run away from the McCain because of Palin. She and her Convention Speech brought McCain to a point where he was actually ahead after the Convention. Yeah, she had a rough time with Katie Couric, but a little something called the collapse of the United States Banking and Finance System may have played a larger role in McCain's defeat than a "fantasy" she perpetuated. I dunno. I'm just spitballin' here.
Other politicians are more reliable conservatives {ok, Captain Cockmunch, tell us. Oh you can't? maybe that's because you HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE!-ed.}; Palin ran for governor on a set of populist issues usually linked to Alaska Democrats {but I thought you were all about copying Democrat Party bullshit.-ed.} She lacks any real accomplishment - no military or private-sector career of note{so I guess a fishing business that she and her husband built that didn't involve marrying a beer dealer heiress doesn't count?-ed.}no academic achievement beyond a frenetic bounce between five colleges, including a sun 'n' surf-oriented outfit in Hawaii.
And I'll just ignore the jab at her academic records, because, well, FUCK YOU is because. We can go round and round over that one, but I instantly respect somebody who watses their youth in Hawaii or anywhere not named Saul Alinsky's Schoolhouse. But that's just me.
She has served only two years as governor of a small and uniquely easy-to-govern state (other governors pine for Alaska's small population and billions of dollars in easy revenue from oil production) {but a two year stint as a Senator from a corrupt political machine is OK? Good to know.-ed.}, a job she has now abandoned. The answer is that Palin profits mightily from a Republican blind spot. She has all the right smirking enemies in America's media elite. To them, Palin reeks of flyover America, that vast and corny collection of Nebraskas and Alabamas where the Army can always meet enlistment quotas and Tina Fey's private jet stops briefly to refuel. Red state Republicans see the snarky, elite attacks on Palin as an attack on them. And in some ways, they are.The enemy of their enemy is just fine, thank you.
Ok, that last bit is where I am really angry. I hope you are joking there, Murphy McManmuncher, because insulting the Armed Forces and the people who risk their fucking lives to join them should disqualify you immediately from any job other than assistant male zebra fluffer (NTTAWWT). Your own fucking boss served a stint in Hell as a POW, and yet you, you fucking doughy dickbag, have the temerity to even mildly mock, even if it is in some sort of counter intuitive argument way, the good people of the states that FUCKING VOTED FOR YOUR GUY AND SERVE LIKE YOUR BOSS DID? You can't be that stupid, can you? And so fucking what if we hate the media? You spent most of your lives tryting to get into their good graces, and what did they do to you? They abandoned you and Sen. McCain the moment something better came along. And you think we, the Palin supporters, are stupid?
That kind of arrogance is why most of your own party hates you and the clusterfuck that is the Beltway GOP. Oh, and instead of hectoring us, why not offer some alternatives to what you just ripped? Is that too difficult, Fucktard Express? I mean, you call us stupid, yet you offer no concrete examples of what we should do, save ditching Palin.
But I am through for now. Enjoy trying to massage Chris Matthews and his tingly leg in an attempt to be an MSNBC Republican. You two deserve each other.
Cheers.

Steele should pray hard that Palin will lend her name to GOP fundraisers and candidates. Speaking of which, it looks like some Republicans are hoping she will do just that.
UPDATE: Way to tell 'em, Governor!
“We have so many people who offer advice, but I’m going to continue to be, whether some of ‘em like it or not, pretty darn independent, and not get wrapped up into a strong political machine that hasn’t been extremely successful in some ways,†she said on Fox News Channel. "I want to work, right now, for people who are going to work in office or out of office for the right things. Those principles that built up America, those who are inspired by the values of America, and will not deride or apologize for the values we hold as Americans. I’m gonna work for those people.â€I can only imagine the number of blue-blood Republican elitists, whose jaws dropped when Palin just told them essentially that they have abandoned the party platform by their words and deeds. And that they should just sit down and shut up.

I am not going to waste much time complaining about the vicious attacks on Palin from the left. They have defended and will defend their photoshops or frivolous ethics complaints not by answering the charges directly, instead deflecting to the “she deserves it because she made her life front and center†(ignoring their own times where we were told to leave Democrats’ very visible private lives alone), blah blah blah. Actually, the disgusting nature of their attacks does not surprise me, since that is their raison d’etre, and to do otherwise would cause me to wonder about them.
No, by now I believe you realize that my anger is at those on our side who either did nothing, or openly sided with the haters on the left, for reasons they can only explain. To them, I ask:
YOU FUCKING HAPPY NOW, FUCKFACE? Seriously, what do/did you want now that Palin is gone? You got your wish, she is probably gone for good. Now, what do you have to offer? Who do you support?
How about telling us, defending your decisions, and going from there? Or, is that too much to ask?

Now to the weird part. I'm watching 30 Days of Night in the middle of all of this. For those that don't know, it's a vampire movie set in Alaska. I've watched it a bunch of times but I never noticed this before. When Josh Hartnett, Hot Ass Sheriff, finds the first murders, he drives through town doing an announcement over the truck's PA. That announcement roughly goes "Go inside, look the doors and load your weapons." That really caught my attention now. It's a great tiny throw away line that establishes the community. Yes, there's a sheriff but the town people are expected to be able to defend themselves as well. It just really caught my attention, what with all the discussions about personal responsibility and the utter abdication thereof by most people.

Yes, Mark Tapscott, I'm talking to you.
Sorry, folks, but, as much as I agree this bill is a disaster for America, calling these eight RINOs "traitors" is beyond the line. Here's why: The word "traitor" has specific reference to national loyalty. Benedict Arnold was a traitor, as were spies like John Walker, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and Aldrich Hazen Ames. The traditional penalty for treason is death, though in recent decades that sentence has been all but forgotten in the U.S., though not in other nations.
When somebody promises you they will take a certain course of action not involving national loyalty, but then does another, they are a rat, a double-crosser, or a jerk, but they are not a traitor because national security is not jeopardized by their failure to do what they promised to do. The Obama-Waxman-Markey bill will certainly burden the U.S. economy, but it won't destroy it. Thus, referring to the eight GOP members who voted for the bill is unjustified.
But isn't "cap and traitor" simply an acceptable rhetorical device whereas "General Betrayus" is self-evidently character assassination? "Rules for Radicals" author Saul Alinsky, President Obama's inspiration, would see both terms as illustrations of his principle of isolating opponents, discrediting them and making them objects of disgust, hatred and villification.
First of all, Mr. Pack A Day Smoker Of Cock*, you make the false comparison between when Code Pink and KOS used the "General Betrayus" ads and our attacks on the eight RINOs who helped push Cap & Trade over the finish line. Only problem? Code Pink has never been on the side of the military and the Generals they attacked, while we are lashing out at people who ostensibly should be on our side. We are just trying to keep our side in check, while Code Pink's sole intent was to heckle and humiliate a proud warrior.
Secondly, we have not taken out full page ads in newspapers before the vote even took place attacking wavering RINOs like the shitfucks on the left did before Petraeus even spoke before Congress. We lobbied our representatives. We called and emailed them. They ignored us, so fuck them and anybody who defends them.
Thirdly, Dudley Dipshit, who cares if we are discrediting our ELECTED FUCKING REPRESENTATIVES who we send to Congress to do what we ask them to do, and FUCKING HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR FUCKING VOTES? THAT'S THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT OF A REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC! We lobbied our representatives. We called and emailed them. They ignored us, so fuck them and anybody who defends them. And we can do WHAT THE FUCK WE WANT TO THEM BY VIRTUE OF OUR VOTES AND DONATIONS. WE HAVE THE POWER OVER THEM, NOT THEM OVER US. Maybe they, and you, need a wake up call.
Finally, fuck you, you arrogant, elitist, BELTWAY, COCKTAIL PARTY ASSFISH. That's why. We deserve the right to express our views however we wish, and if you don't like it, I think you know what I think of your options over this matter.
Thank you, and have a pleasant evening.
*I read that insult elsewhere. I like it, but cannot claim ownership.

Not only was he having an affair with a woman from Argentina, but he was taking taxpayer-funded trips to Argentina as well.
Way to go, champ.
P.S. - I love that the picture they used for this article shows Gov. David Paterson in the background. Some affairs are more equal than others, I suppose.

The 2012 race will be between Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin, as they will be the only potential nominees who haven't had (or admitted to) affairs.

Tang's ads for years have bragged that his restaurant is where George Bush goes for Chinese food. His website is down, but there are still many many articles proclaiming GOP love for Heaven Dragon's Chinese cuisine.
Funny thing is, despite living relatively close to Heaven Dragon, I've never eaten there. I even lived two blocks from it for a while. Strip mall Chinese just doesn't do that much for me. I'd heard rumors to the effect that they served dog there, and that the owner was a drug dealer, but I'd dismissed them as neighborhood craziness.

Update: Here is a link to an actual story. It's worse and more Gavin Newsome-esque than originally thought. The woman he cheated on his wife with was a campaign staffer married to someone who worked in his Senate office.
