A Message To African American Farmers From Obama's Bus

You make a nice speedbump.

In 1997, 400 African American farmers sued the USDA, alleging discrimination in subsidy policy, and a range of other areas over the preceding 15 years. In the resulting court case, Pigford v. Glickman, the USDA agreed to pay $50,000 to each farmer. By then, the suit had become a class action, and USDA expected to have to pay roughly 2,000 farmers. 22,505 joined the suit.

Two years later, the USDA agreed to pay 16,000 of those farmers the agreed-upon $50,000 in compensation - just over $1 billion in total. But according to the USDA, a full 70,000 additional farmers claimed that they had submitted petitions for damages, but that those petitions were received late due to bureaucratic incompetence or poor legal representation.

The matter remained unresolved until 2008, when Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Barack Obama, D-Ill., teamed up to earmark $1.25 billion in that years farm bill to pay the outstanding claims.

But the 70,000 farmers who say they were wrongly denied damages plus the 16,000 who received $50,000 from the federal government exceeds the total 26,785 African American farmers present in the United States in 1999, and the 39,697 present today.

Then this week, seemingly out of the blue, the administration announced that it does not have the funds to pay out that $1.25 billion. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are outraged, claiming that "if the administration can find $1.5 billion within its administrative funds to pay mostly white farmers in Arkansas and other states, it should be able to pay black farmers who suffered discrimination."

Seriously, folks. Did you really expect Teh Won to give a damn about you once you were elected? If so, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Gotta love that Gibbsy

OOOOPS!!!

Finally, he wrapped it up: “And then you should ask Mr. Limbaugh — I don’t know what kind of car he drives, but I bet it’s not an F-150.”

The F-150 truck, we should note, is made by Ford, which didn’t get federal rescue funds.

Better luck in the Showcase Showdown, Robby, but at least you won that Blackberry.

So about the AZ SB 1070 ruling

I can't really say I'm surprised.  This is pretty much what I was expecting when Judge Bolton didn't rule on Friday or Monday morning.

So here's the question for all the lawyerly types; have you read the ruling and what do you think of the reasoning?  I have to admit I only read the first 18 pages, but here is what I gleaned from it;  the injunction stems from the fact that congress didn't make it a crime to be in the US illegally.  I'm not quite sure how she came to that conclusion but that's her basis.  All the rest of it - The burden on federal authorities, the possibility of detaining lawful aliens, all that is just window dressing.  What I really don't understand is how she can injoin (?) the part of the law requiring aliens to carry their paperwork when federal law already requires the same thing.  She asserts that the AZ penalties somehow adversely impact the uniform alien registration requirement that Congress enacted.  I just don't see how one necessarily follows the other.

Hopefully at some point Law and Order LA will do an episode based on this so I can broaden my legal education.

I Loves Me Some Complex Obamacare Charts

Seriously, this fucker makes the Leviathan and the Tax Code seem like a preschool pop-up book.

Oh, and once again, for catharsis and motivation in November, anybody who supported this fucking pile of fuckwaste can get fucked so hard with this chart, they will be twisted around and forced to fucking walk backwards so that they can see ahead of themselves. Fuck them for ruining the most innovative and life saving medical system around. And fuck them for making such fucking gawdawful charts.

Not the post I'll eventually make but the one I'm thinking at the moment

So.  The Lockerbie bomber who was supposed to be dead in two months is walking around just fine and my BFF, who didn't get actually diagnosed with cancer until three weeks ago, is dead.

Oh.  And Obama wants to let him out of jail on "compassion" grounds.

Hey, look at that, I can hate Obama more.  Good to know.

Obama administration flagrantly breaks laws

They've spent millions supporting the new Kenyan constitution, which guarantees abortion rights.  The federal government is explicitly barred from using federal funds to lobby on abortion laws in foreign nations.  Naurally, Congress had to fight like hell to find out where the money was going.

We Owe HOW Much?!??!!?

This much?!??

So this young family's total share of government obligations and debt is $1,069,100.

When these obligations are added to their other liabilities their household ends up in a deep financial hole. Despite all their hard work and responsible financial behavior, decades of financial mismanagement by the government have effectively wiped out the net worth of $270,000 they thought they had. Instead, they owe almost $800,000.

How about you? What does your household balance sheet look like when you factor in $1,069,100 of additional liabilities?

How about this?

Neil Reynolds needs a good whacking with the clue bat

Democracies produced Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, fulfilling the expectation of Socrates and Machiavelli that democracies end in tyranny. Now democracies are fulfilling the complementary expectation of Nobel laureate economist Milton Friedman that democracies end in bankruptcy.

Apparently in order to save the world and the free enterprise system a little good 'ol fashioned socialism is what's needed:

Democracies have made people more dependent on the state than any humanitarian necessity required. For Italy, and for other democracies, the worst is surely yet to come. Already, hundreds of thousands of middle-class people have thronged the streets of Paris and Rome, of Milan and Sarajevo, of Reykjavik and Bucharest (where demonstrators stormed the presidential palace, an insurgent act that evokes the spectre of revolution). The World Socialists’ website proclaims an age of rage ahead – and chillingly quotes British historian Simon Schama: “You can smell the sulphur in the air.”

I don't really know where to start on this.  It's just so wrong.  I guess the obvious beginning would be to suggest that Reynolds re-read The Road to Serfdom, which traced the origin of National Socialism and Italian Fascism to their socialist beginnings and showed how economic freedom and political freedom are inextricably linked.

I do have to agree with Reynolds on one point public sector debt is out of control, but the way to deal with that is not through central planning and tyranny.

Obama Sure Does Want To Help Businesses

Is this part of the "you should be thanking me" policy stance? If so, then any liberal who says they really do not hate businesses and that those of us who criticize them are wrong need to get rocketfucked with the ragefucktipped fuckmissile of fuck.

Devon Energy Corp. had been leasing the Endeavor to drill in the same region of the Gulf as BP's leaking Macondo well, which has been gushing crude since a lethal blowout April 20.

But Diamond announced Friday it will lease the rig through June 30, 2011, to Cairo-based Burullus Gas Co., which plans to send the Endeavor to Egyptian waters immediately.

Devon is one of three companies that has cited the deep-water drilling ban in trying to ease out of contracts to lease Diamond rigs. Diamond, a drilling company, said it expects to make about $100 million from the deal, including a $31 million early termination fee it recovered from Devon.

Larry Dickerson, CEO of Houston-based Diamond, signaled that other of his company's rigs could be relocated, too.

"As a result of the uncertainties surrounding the offshore drilling moratorium, we are actively seeking international opportunities to keep our rigs fully employed," Dickerson said. "We greatly regret the loss of U.S. jobs that will result from this rig relocation."

It was unclear how many U.S. jobs could leave with the Ocean Endeavor, but typically more than 100 workers are on the rig at any given time, doing everything from drilling to cooking meals. Onshore, a network of businesses supplies the rigs with groceries, equipment, uniforms and drilling materials.

"It's not unusual for an energy service company to have 1,000 vendors that they buy from or purchase services from," noted Rep. Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands. As a result, Brady said, the economic damage from the moratorium stretches far and wide.

Yeah, fuck you, lefties. Fuck you for what you have done and are doing to the economy of an entire region. Fuck you for claiming that those of us who want to see jobs created are the bad guys. And laserfuck you fuckity fuck fuck style for ruining everything.

Get fucked, take your economic ruin with you, and fuck off while you are at it.

Controversial?

Try incredibly fucking unconstitutional, under both the US and Michigan constitutions:

A recent directive in the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools urges administrators to scan resumes for "cues" that applicants are from a minority racial group. Tip-offs can include job-seekers' residence, college attendance, fraternity or church membership and employment history.

Yeah, all of those "cues"? Those are things that would get you sued, as they damn well should, if you used them to disqualify a candidate based on membership in a minority racial group. It's just as discriminatory to use them to eliminate a member of the majority group.

h/t the blog prof who has a great point: "On second thought, it is interesting that liberals want to beat conservatives over the head with a legal shovel when it suits their purposes. But when the law is against their ideological goals, they flip it the finger. The handgun ban recently passed in Chicago comes to mind right after the Supreme Court upheld the 2nd amendment. This case of discrimination in violation of the Michigan Constitution and the equal protection clause of the US Constitution are 2 really good examples of that mentality."

Exactly.  In 2006, the Michigan state Constitution was specifically amended to eliminate the use of race in state public education.  I cannot conceive of how this would comply with that constitutional mandate.  But, hey, since this is For The Children, who gives a damn if it's illegal.  I'm sure the taxpayers will be thrilled to pay the legal defense fees for the lawsuits over this, what with the intentions being so pure and all.

Hey come on it's not like it's murder murder

I'm sure our three readers have seen this, since we don't rely on the MFM for our news, but the actress who plays Padma Patil in the HP movies was threatened with honor killing by her father and brother because she's dating a Hindu guy.

You know, it would be nice if those who claim to be feminist actually give a shit about things like this as opposed to bitching that the Republican women who are gaining grounds are too hot.  I'd love for someone to ask Whoopi if it's okay for male family members to actually kill a woman because of who she's dating.

I know, I know it's not surprising that there's no uproar about this.  But it should be.

Get thee to a nuthouse

St. Andrew of the Blessed Heart-Ache (no link, natch) continues to plumb the depths of insanity with a post titled "Why Does Sarah Palin's Vajayjay Trig Matter? Ctd":

You know the MSM is more interested in preserving their reputations on the far right than in seeking the truth.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Seriously, though, someone needs to commit this guy to the rubber room if he truly thinks that ABCBCNBCCNNTIMENYTWAPONEWSWEEK is in the tank for Sarah Palin.
So it's up to the blogs of regular people to keep these people accountable.
Yes, because it's not like the Dem-oriented press spent thousands of dollars to send reporters up to Alaska to dig up dirt on Palin while, at the same time, doing absolutely nothing to look at Obama's background. And I'm not talking about his birth certificate. I don't doubt that he was born in Hawaii. I'm talking about his college and on-the-job records.
All anyone is asking for is documentation and we can all move on. All I have ever asked for is for Palin to prove I am a fool for even asking.
You're not a fool. Calling you a fool would be generous. You're a dangerously obsessed nutjob.
