reason 4,234,038 to hate Keith Olbermann

Today was one of the most exciting days in NFL history and I can't watch the halftime show because he's going to get his ick all over it.

SHUT UP KEITH!  JUST.  SHUT.  UP.

Look at me being all tolerant of others.

more commercial shenanigans

The newest commercial that is running around here is Obama claiming that he's going to be better on taxes than McCain.  It's a stunning display of hubris and massively misrepresents both of their positions.  The sad thing?  I have a sinking feeling that all of this class warfare stuff is going to be effective.

Also, for being in the midst of the Great Depression, Wegman's sure as hell was packed to the brim when I went grocery shopping this morning.  For those of you not familiar with Wegman's, it's a bit more upscale store.  And it was completely packed.  What's that mean?  Nothing.  But, hey, if bad news can be drawn from one anecdote, I reserve the right to draw the opposite conclusion from my trying to run down screaming children with my grocery cart.

More Vote Fraud

This time, it's in Nevada, with some suspicious voter registration.

"Tony Romo is not registered to vote in the state of Nevada, and anybody trying to pose as Terrell Owens won't be able to cast a ballot on Nov. 4," said Secretary of State Ross Miller, referring to star players on the pro football team.

State authorities raided the headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a group that works to register low-income people.

Miller said the raid was part of a monthslong investigation, and he contended the group had submitted registration forms that used false information or duplicated information on multiple forms. He did not estimate how many.

Bertha Lewis, interim chief organizer for ACORN, said the group has been working with election officials to weed out fraudulent forms from those submitted by the canvassers it hires.

"Today's raid by the secretary of state's office is a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than to discredit our work registering Nevadans," Lewis said.

She said ACORN had turned in 46 problem applications submitted by 33 former employees to election officials in the Las Vegas area, where it has registered 80,000 people.

Cheaters

Hey, you guys will never guess which group of "community organizers" is under investigation for voter fraud in Cleveland. Go on, guess!

[Domino's Pizza worker Christopher] Barkley estimated he'd registered to vote "10 to 15" times after canvassers for ACORN, whose political wing has endorsed Barack Obama, relentlessly pursued him and others.

Claims such as his have sparked election officials to probe ACORN.

"I kept getting approached by folks who asked me to register," Barkley said. "They'd ask me if I was registered. I'd say yes, and they'd ask me to do it [register] again.

"Some of them were getting paid to collect names. That was their sob story, and I bought it," he said.

Barkley is one of at least three people who have been subpoenaed by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections as part of a wider inquiry into possible voter fraud by ACORN. The group seeks to register low-income voters, who skew overwhelmingly Democratic.

"You can tell them you're registered as many times as you want - they do not care," said Lateala Goins, 21, who was subpoenaed.

"They will follow you to the buses, they will follow you home, it does not matter," she told The Post.

Remember, though, that this is actually a great big GOP conspiracy to keep poor people from voting.

(Via Jim Geraghty, who's rightly skeptical about a claim on the Obama website that "Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.")

I don't think this is a good idea

Apparently Gov. Palin will be dropping the puck for the Philly Flyers opener.  I think this is a bad idea.  If you aren't aware, Philly is a godforsaken Marxist hellhole, and Philly sports fans are the worst of the worst, (with a possible exception to the rule).  Here are some examples, note this is written by a Philly fan apologist,

People try to label us negatively and constantly bring up incidents of snowball throwing and booing Santa Claus, but there is definitely something there that outsiders cannot comprehend.

J.D. Drew had batteries thrown at him. Flyers fans will boo every time Eric Lindros touches the puck for the rest of his career.

I was actually there for one of the ugliest incidents in recent history, when fans cheered while Michael Irvin lay injured on the Veteran's Stadium turf and cheered louder after the medical staff signaled for the ambulance. ESPN broadcaster and Hall of Fame player Joe Morgan said in reference to Philadelphia fans and Scott Rolen, "I have trouble remembering a city having such a vendetta for a player."

Yeah, what those of us who live in civilized society can't comprehend is how you Philly vermin can be so willfully reprehensible, and we have no desire to learn why.  And lets not forget Eddie's post on Philly fans throwing eggs at the Redskins bus.  So no, I don't think this is a good idea.

(sorta on a tip from Alice H)

Occam's Razor

As noted in Vinty's post below, ACORN keeps getting busted for voter fraud.  Time after time, in states all across the country, people working for ACORN have been found to have turned in bogus voter registration forms.

Now, seeing as how this has happened over and over and over again, would it suggest that ACORN's "community organizers" are engaging in election fraud on a nationwide basis, or would it suggest that there's some sort of Rethuglikkkan conspiracy to suppress voter turnout?  If you're a sane person, you might suspect the former.  If, on the other hand, you happen to be a Kossak, well...

Let's just say there are a few logical leaps involved, along with some grade-A incredulousness about ACORN's truthfulness.  What a shock.

Yeah, I really want these people writing gun laws

Via the Moron-in-Chief, dude, seriously, how clueless can reporters be about firearms?  I like the endless sea of, "It's a shotgun, not a rifle, and a break-action shotgun can't fire when it's open like that, you dunce!" in the comments.  What's the, er, over/under on this LAT reporter/blogger/whatever getting all snippy and defensive about getting corrected, then bitching about getting hounded by "paranoid gun nuts?"  Yeah, I really trust these people to give respect to our Constitutional rights and to act responsibly when writing policy and laws...

McCain: Oh, by the way, did I mention he's black?

Oh wait, it was Barack Obama who said that.  My mistake.  Nevertheless, it's the McCain camp who is race-baiting according to the New York Times (emphasis mine):

"Senator John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin have been running one of the most appalling campaigns we can remember," the Tuesday editorial said. "They have gone far beyond the usual fare of quotes taken out of context and distortions of an opponent’s record — into the dark territory of race-baiting and xenophobia. Senator Barack Obama has taken some cheap shots at Mr. McCain, but there is no comparison."
I think that, since they're officially racist no matter what they do, they might as well bring up Jeremiah Wright.

Somewhat related: The Politico finally gets around to noting how Obama campaigns differently around different ethnic/economic groups.

New code words identified

If you thought the Dems' playing of the race card was stupid before, fasten your seat belts, kids, because we're about to veer hard and fast into the 'tard lane (with my emphasis):

“Some may say their true colors are showing,” said Representative Yvette Clarke of New York. “Others may say they’re just not being thoughtful. But certainly a lot of the language I’ve heard I consider to be incendiary. I believe it is meant to generate a certain sentiment within their base that engenders fear and certainly appeals to a group of people within our society who would pursue this along racial lines.

“It’s very clear,” she said.

Ms. Clarke also found a racial subtext in Ms. Palin’s repeated appeals to “Joe Six-Pack” and “hockey moms.”

“Who exactly is Joe Six-Pack and who are these hockey moms? That’s what I’d like to know,” she said. “Is that supposed to be terminology that is of common ground to all Americans? I don’t find that. It leaves a lot of people out.”

You.  Have.  Got.  To.  Be.  Shitting.  Me.

This stupid bitch (yeah, I'm going to say that, and I'm not gonna apologize for it) thinks "Joe Sixpack," which has been a term that has meant "ordinary voter" for, well, for fucking ever is some kind of racist codeword?  And, um, Yvette, when she says "hockey mom," she means the mothers of kids who have played hockey, or other sports for that matter.  Her kids play hockey.  It's like "soccer moms," but she's, you know, from Alaska, where they probably don't play a lot of soccer, seeing as how the state is covered with snow and ice during a goodly portion of the year.  That's some real KKK-style shit right there.  Yeah.

And this country is about to elect, assuming the polls are correct, more people from this fundamentally stupid, dishonest, and childish party?  We are well and truly fucked, my friends.

And, yes, I'm a racist for writing this post.  And you're a racist for reading it.

Update: I see Vinty referenced the same article in the post below.  Diseased minds think alike!

Not so random thought

My guess is that if you looked at every issue where Obama states he has "consistently said" something, you'll find him stating the exact opposite at some point in the past 19 months.

P.S. - I have never been more happy to miss a debate, as I gather it is the only think that could have made my dead end job more boring.

Something to keep in mind with tonight's townhall

This will be another set of "undecided, uncommitted voters", and we all know that almost definitely possibly means.  Townhalls are McCain's strong suit, given that he's been doing them since forever, but even he's going to be limited in what he can do if it's rigged like the youtube debate.

So, just to be clear, Dick...

...was this guy more like a Nazi or a Soviet Gulag guard before he became politically expedient for you?

Or was he more like one of Pol Pot's henchmen or some goon from another "mad regime," Dick? Because some of us find your sudden concern for our troops a little surprising, given some of the shit you've tossed at them in the past. And I can't emphasize the Dick part enough, Dick.

Hope, Change, Push Polling in Maine

Slublog got a call, have you gotten a push poll call?  Actually, here's something to keep in mind, if you get a pollster, do the poll.  I know people think we should not respond to pollsters, or ignore them with the hopes of curbing their influence.  I disagree, the problem with that is that you can't curb their effect all that much.  They do hold some influence over the idjit vote, and you have to pull some of the idjit vote, or you're screwed.

If it's a push pollster, like Slublog got, mess with his head.  If you get someone in the Obama campaign or a Democrat campaign worker, maybe act interested and string 'em along.  Make them waste time or resources trying to convince someone that they can't convince.  Maybe disregard that last suggestion if you live in an area Obama's brownshirts would put a brick through your window for it.

"Palling around with terrorists" message striking a nerve

How else to explain some oh-so-helpful advice from "A former supporter" of McCain posted at...wait for it...wait for it...The Daily Kos?

Barack Obama represents a nation that united as one on 9/11. Barack Obama would never have existed in an intolerant America, in a non-diverse America, in an America that would not allow a poor child to succeed on his merits. The America that united, with pride and patriotism, with defiance and neighborly spirit on 9/11 is precisely the America that Barack Obama is part of.

John - you and Sarah Palin can attack this America only at your own risk. And you should be careful, lest you go down in history as a villain, instead of the American hero you once were.
Yeah, nice try there, douche. Let's blunt an attack because someone who claims to be a former McCain supporter (*cough* You're doing the Moby thing wrong *cough*) suggests it's a bad idea on Markos "Screw Them" Moulitsas' blog.

On the other hand, this is the McCain campaign we're talking about...
