Because they're getting ready to do some gun grabbing.  Sheila Jackson-Lee presented a bill that would ban anyone under 21 from buying *any* firearm.  IIRC, you have to be 21 to buy a handgun already, so this would just effect long guns.  I have to imagine this is going to effect young hunters, rural folks and farmers the worst.  It's also going to stifle the ability to bring people into hunting or the shooting sports.  Plus it leaves anyone under 21 and living alone defenseless. 

Second, listen to Rahm Emmanuel addressing the Brady Campaign. Yeah, I know the commentary on the video is from one of the Jones nutters, it doesn't matter, it doesn't make what Obama's little authoritarian toadie is saying any less alarming.  Time to buy and stock up if you haven't started already.
