Well, at least she won't be in the Senate anymore

Kay Bailey Hutchison has been a regular sellout and major disappointment, so I'm no fan to begin with, and would argue she needed to face a primary challenge in the Senate anyway, but it looks like she's trying to unseat current Governor Perry.  As I understand it, Perry is a douche too, but Hutchison is worse, and she just went all in with the RINOs and leftists, so I guess this filthy Keystone Yankee is backing Perry, unless someone better comes along.

Property rights? What are those?

What the fuck is wrong with Haley Barbour?  Is he for the individual's rights, or the corporation?  A Democrat in the Mississippi legislature offered up a bill that would have banned the state from abusing eminent domain for private projects.  This is of course an effort to nullify the horrendous Kelo decision, and it should be supported. 

Yeah, I get that MS is desperate for new business, but you can't trade business opportunities for individual rights, and a Republican ought to know that better than anyone.  There's a reason the GOP is in the minority right now.

Is there a reason this is being touted as A Good Thing?

Ed says, regarding the funds raised in February by the RNC,

Is $5.1 million a good number on its own?  I’d say yes, for a party that just lost a national election and faces off against a popular (for now) Democratic President.  It’s doubly impressive considering the fact that the RNC didn’t have much of a senior staff; Steele canned most of them, and has only now begun replacing them, including the person in charge of fundraising.

$5 million is not a good number, I don't care how you spin it.  Yeah, they beat the Democrats in fundraising, big deal, what does it say about people's faith in the GOP that they'd only give them $5 million as the Marxists in power nationalize everyfuckingthing?  The fact that everyone who isn't a liberal drone hasn't emptied their wallet into a big box with a little red, white and blue elephant tacked onto the side of it should be telling.  People won't donate to the RNC because they know it's a money sink, they've lost all faith in the party, and with damn good reason.

Leaving America?

When I find myself kinda sorta agreeing with the twat Rod Dreher, I immediately begin to question what I'm thinking, but seriously, what the fuck is this nonsense about bailing on the US?  And I would have said he was full of shit but I see a bunch of commenters at Hotair and other sites saying the same things.  Where the fuck did this come from?  Do you really think you're going to find liberty elsewhere? 

We have all the tools at hand to push back the left and authoritarians, all this talk about leaving is for the lazy and cowardly.  They're giving up the fight for liberty for security, and it's shameful.  All I have to say to those people,

All you people threatening to leave or quit, quit being a bunch of goddamn pussies, we haven't lost yet.  There's already a serious backlash against the statists, and it's getting bigger yet.  This isn't the time to flake out and leave, this is the time to get ready for the counterattack so we can push these fucking Marxists out once and for all!

And for your Steele related GOP FAIL, Ken Blackwell is telling Steele he needs to get his shit together or GTFO.  I didn't make a concrete endorsement, but I'll say I favored Blackwell.  Steele always worried me, whenever he has a choice between backing the squish or even liberal position or backing the conservative, he chooses the squish route.  That doesn't work when you're trying to get a base of committed conservatives who are already sickened by the mention of the current GOP to offer of their time and treasure to advance the Republican Party.

Today, Michael Steele, the GOP's first African American Chairman, was ousted as leader in a no confidence vote led by Katon Dawson.  Dawson was famously part of a country club that refused minorities membership until recently....

For all that anyone cares

Here are my thoughts, such as they are, on the Rush v. everyone mess.  I will admit that my reaction to all of this is far more visceral than intellectual.  In much of the commentary and the various posts about this, the onus appears to be on Rush, and by extension his supporters, to sit back and take it.  There is an interesting debate to be had about framing and the use of language and the like.  I will defer to Jeff G. on that topic.  What bothers me is that there are those acting as if Rush is simply reacting to the wind.  For example, the latest dust up was presented as Rush attacking Newt for no reason.  I had to dig to determine that Newt clearly implied that Rush was irrational.  Yeah.  I know that when I'm called irrational (even when I totally deserve it) I react with calm and grace. 

I am deeply troubled by the fact that the emphasis is being placed on Rush's reactions, and by extension, those of his supporters, to the various insults being hurled without any obvious appreciation that the reaction is coming from things others have said.  Make no mistake about it, being called inflammatory and ugly is insulting.  Being called irrational is insulting.  Yet when a response is made to that provocation, somehow that response is what's wrong. 

This has been something that has bothered me my entire life.  When people ask me questions or make statements that I find insulting, I am supposed to simply smile and suck it up.  When I respond to that provocation, somehow I am at fault.  I reject that concept utterly.  When pushed, I will push back.  I am not responsible for starting the fight.  I am not responsible for escalating it.  What I am doing is calling people out on *their* improper behavior.  To then turn around and blame me for having the temerity to stand up and say "no, no, you will not speak to me like that" is cowardice.  It's an attempt to get away with being insulting without being held accountable for the words.  

That is the tone of much of what I am seeing.  Somehow, for some reason, those of us who refuse to take being called inflammatory, ugly and irrational are the ones in the wrong.  I'm sorry, but the refusal to grasp that possibly, just possibly, the comments hurled at Rush et al are offensive rather vitiates any credibility on the part of the person who is attempting to lecture me on the proper use of language and the need for moderate tones and whatnot.  There are only certain things for which I will lie back and think of England.  The RNC leadership is not on that list.

The two sides are not going to see eye to eye on this.  Ever.  It's beyond the point of diminishing returns to discuss it and well into simply slinging mud in an attempt to have the Final Word.  Look, I appreciate the need to have the Final Word as I am a.  female, b. a lawyer and c. a female lawyer.  Honestly, it's difficult to come up with a combination more insistent on having the final say.  I think all sides would do well to step back, accept that this is no longer a productive use of time and to direct the fury onto a more appropriate target.  No, I'm not saying why can't well all just get along.  I am merely suggesting that supporting the other side's right to be horrifically wrong may be what's needed at this juncture.

Jim Bunning trying to hold GOP hostage, make an ass of himself again?

Supposedly he's threatening to resign and let Democrat governor Beshear choose someone to replace him if he doesn't get support from the GOP leadership.  Says, yes, an unnamed source,

"I would get the last laugh. Don't forget Kentucky has a Democrat governor," one of the sources quoted Bunning as saying. "The only logical extension of that comment is, '(Make me mad) … enough and I'll resign, and then you've got 60 Democrats,'" said another source who was present at the event.

He's already issued the stock denial, and who knows if it's true, the media could just be trying to sow more discord.  I'd give it a 50/50.

As for his threats, are we supposed to be intimidated by this? We already have 60 Democrats, sometimes it's Benedict Arlen,


sometimes it's the two twits from Maine, maybe McCain or his poodle Graham, Hatch or some other Vichy Republican who can be bought, so his threat isn't much of one to begin with.  What's one more at this stage?  Of course then you add in the fact that Bunning hasn't done a damn thing to raise funds for himself for the next election, and is almost criminally stupid, I'd say his threat is pretty damned weak.  Go for it Jim, retire.
