It's all a matter of perspective

What the hell Teh Fred is doing reading HuffPo shall forever remain a mystery.  I can forgive that, though, as he's pointed out a good read to demonstrate the reality-bending that's going on regarding the town hall demonstrations.

A few points from the article, which is worth a read if only for the giggles at union thugs being afraid of grandma's cane.

This:

is what passes for "several conservative media outlets accus(ing) the organization of trying to assault demonstrators".

Rush Limbaugh is scary scary for announcing the address of the St. Louis SEIU on the air, since Republicans can't hear an address without showing up with their clingy guns and Bibles and white pointy hats and burning crosses on the lawn.

Doing things like noting license plates of who shows up at demonstrations is a tactic best left to people who have experience at investigating political activists, like Helen Jones-Kelley.

One person saying something extreme on Twitter constitutes an angry mob "taking up arms against the union".  And saying you're going to use the 2nd Amendment to protect your 1st Amendment rights is eeeeeviiiiiiillll.

The unions are just there to help, which is why they were "help(ing to) turn away people at a forum in Tampa Bay, Florida".

And the author has no fucking idea what a petition is.  But that's just petty of me to point out.

Any chance we could leave the schools to, I don't know, educating the kids?

You only have to dig 992 pages into the bill to find it.*  I'll sum it up, as it's about eight pages of crap.  I don't even know how to refer to this thing by section, as it's apparently an amendment to something else that may be in this bill or may be something else, I have no freaking idea.

Pages 992 through 1000 establish School-Based Health Clinics (SBHCs).    The goal of this portion of the bill is to establish full-service health clinics - the phrase used in the bill is "comprehensive primary health services" - operating during school hours on campus in underprivileged areas. The SBHCs will follow federal, state, and local privacy laws.

So let's get theoretical here - what sort of medical services might be provided to students that would require specifically calling out that privacy laws will be observed regarding parental notification?

There's also the issue of encouraging parents to further abandon parental responsibility by allowing them to remove the albatross of actually caring what's going on with their children enough to take them to the freaking doctor, but that's for another post.

*No, I haven't read 992 pages of this monstrosity.  I was reading the table of contents and saw the title of the section and had a feeling that there was going to be something pretty bizarre there.

I wuz there

Well actually, he was there
He being Jim Hoft, of Gateway Pundit fame.

It's worth a read, I won't excerpt it except to show how much respect Carnahan had for his constituents and how much for his union thugs.
Quote
One side was marked reserved. This was for the union supporters who arrived late for the event...snip...
His staffers then pulled out a few questions and read them to him from their index cards. They said they had collected the cards beforehand, but the tea party taxpayers did not even know they were only taking questions that were written down.

RTWT, follow the links, it's despicable.
What makes it even despicable...er is the way Carnahan's been talking afterwards. People got upset about his orchestrated "town hall" and union thugs and he's been calling his voters the bad guys all day while sticking up for the union muscle.

Unbelievabile.

Russ Carnahan: Astroturfing Mobster

After multiple episodes of epic FAIL the last few weeks, Rep. Russ Carnahan (Dungheap-MO) decided to have another town hall tonight to defend Obamacare. Well, he did not have to worry tonight about being embarrassed, as he stacked the deck in his favor by locking out damn near 1000 Tea Partiers and helping Union/ACORN thugs sneak in through a handicapped door.

Wow. Way to go, Congressman. You really are willing to confront your opponents. And I can tell you really feel secure enough in your positions to allow all sides to participate in a debate. Oh, and to any libtard who still is screaming "Astroturfers" at the anti-Obamacare people:

I did a bad, bad thing

Yesterday, I sent what I now realize was an ill-considered e-mail to flag@whitehouse.gov wherein I thought it would be funny to send them this video as an example of "fishy" statements being made about President Obama's health care reform plans. "How clever," I thought to myself.

Well, the fine folks at the White House didn't appreciate my sense of humor, and, as Rahm (we're on a first-name basis now, after we came to "our little understanding") and the nice, large gentlemen from the SEIU got ready to board the helicopter said, "Nobody likes a smartass." Waving goodbye with my left arm—having clumsily slammed my own right arm in my car door several times during our little pow-wow—I agreed and bade them a fond farewell.

To make a long story short, most (if not all—oh, who am I kidding—all) of you who blog or comment here haven't been, well, exactly helpful on the topic of health care reform. As a result, I'm going to have to ask each and every one of you to leave your full names, addresses, Social Security numbers, phone numbers, and IP addresses in the comments to this post. Trust me, things will go much more smoothly if you cooperate. I mean, you have no idea how hard it was to type this using just my left hand.

If you're not part of the solution, well, let's just not go down that road...
