I love Sullivan's Island, SC

I used to vacation close to there in high school and it was always incredibly relaxing.  Now, as Jenny Sanford and her boys seek refuge there, the citizens are making me happy.  Fun with media, indeed:

Here on Sullivan's Island, neighbors were reluctant to talk about what they called "the events" and said they have an abiding faith that the Sanfords will work it out -- privately.

Inside an art gallery, the owner was skittish of saying anything about the Sanfords, good or bad. "This is a very private community, and this is a personal family issue," Julie Sweat said as she readied her shop for an art show.

Next door at the Green Heron, a small grocery store on the main drag, a sign read "EVACUATE, MEDIA SCUM."

What a bunch of rubes!  Don't they know they're talking to Their Betters?

Well, I'll be damned

Sure, it takes them ten paragraphs to do it, but the NYT actually mentions the party affiliation of a Democrat politician who pleaded guilty in an influence-peddling case! The weather in hell must be pretty mild today.

The Tweet of The Day

As much as I love Treacher, this lady (who I think is in Iran) nails the media in a more poignant fashion than any of us ever will be able to do.

Media now pushing "Jamaican gangs buying guns from US civilian market" lie

Well, the 90% of guns used in crime in Mexico lie didn't work, so I guess they're trying a different approach.  The good news is that people seem to be ignoring the propaganda, and pretty much recognize it as propaganda, or at least realize it smells a little bullshitty.  Beyond that, flooding the zone with these stupid stories reeks of desperation, the gun control movement is getting its ass handed to itself on nearly every front, outside of a few authoritarian hellholes like NY, NJ, CA and IL, but even there, sometimes you can find a little hope now and then.

I hope Michael Yon doesn't make an ass of himself boosting this lie, too.

Now, watch as I drive this cart

Episode MXCIX in the series, "What if George W. Bush Had Done This During Some Kind of International Crisis?"

Honestly, I don't begrudge the man some relaxation from what's the hardest job in the whole wide world, but just try to imagine the (mostly feigned) MSM outrage if he (I'm sorry, "He") was a GOPer.  Yeah.  It is to laugh.

Some Insight Into Health Care Polling

Almost as if on cue, with Obama's health care overhaul facing several roadblocks and mounting opposition from within his own party, the NY Times and CBS run a poll that, shockingly, is favorable to Obama.

Well, a little insight to the polling numbers reveals that, also shockingly, the NYT/CBS may have gamed the numbers just a bit.

BUT, according to the actual poll data, of the 73% of respondents who said they voted in 2008 only 34% voted for McCain and 66% for Obama.  The actual vote was 46% (corrected) McCain.  So, 29% of McCain voters ignored by the poll must not be Americans, according to the NYTs methodology, and there are about as much an overpolling of  Obama voters

Anything to advance an agenda, I guess.

He's not a fan

I know this isn't a sports-related blog, I don't really care about the NBA, and I'm not usually the type of guy who sticks up for overpaid pro athletes, but bear with me here...

In the wake of last night's NBA Championship win, T.J. Simers of the Los Angeles (!) Times wrote a bilious screed against the Lakers that has me wondering whether or not some of the players ganged up and gave him a swirlie in the locker room at some point. Case in point:

How many times were we told that Kobe wanted this more than anyone else, his teeth gritted as if there was nothing more important in the whole world than a basketball game?
Um, the man is a professional basketball player. What do you think his main focus is supposed to be? Yeah, there are more important things in the world, but I think I can forgive the man for wanting to win.

Update: Speaking of things more important than winning a basketball game, be sure to check out the post below this one. I hate to push it down.

High Crimes and Misdemeanors

Anyone remember a few years ago when it was a crime for the President to golf when there were terrorists anywhere in the world?

Whew!

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't get this whole "Twitter" thing.

Boy, it's sure a good thing I'm only some rube blogging in his pajamas (okay, underpants) and not an international cable news network or something.

"She is fair game"

"I am so offended."

Click on that and try not to puke as a bunch of media types (oooh, I'm sorry, that must be the "code words" that they're offended that we're upset against "some Americans" who are "celebrities") try to justify a joke about the daughter of a political opponent getting fucked in front of the crowd at a baseball game.

I don't have kids, but I think I might be offended if one of you fucking pukes suggested that it was okay that one of my daughters was held up to ridicule in front of a national audience.

And, hey, let's just wonder if it was one of Obama's daughters. Or, let's not. Because you fucking cowards would have an entirely different standard, and you know it. Oh, but there wouldn't be jokes there in the first place.

Do my ears deceive me?

I was listening to Mark Levin in the car while on a run to pick up some Val-U-Rite and a pack of smokes, and during the ABC News break, they had their White House correspondent (I forget her name) talking about the "600,000 jobs created or saved" thing that Obama is bandying about and (GASP!) she actually said something to the effect that there was no possible way to actually, you know, verify that figure.

I nearly crashed into the car in front of me.

No, this isn't offensive at all

From Holy Hell, who found it at the Boston Phoenix, an online rag that currently has as a headline, "The Blessing of Abortion".

I'm leaning more and more toward blaming absolutely everything that goes wrong in this country over the next three and a half years on the Democrats.

MSM reporter notices "hep" new "fad"

You see, there are these things called "weblogs," or "blogs" for short, and these so-called "blogs" have nothing to do with Nielsen ratings...

It's nice that one of them finally admits it, I guess

Though he probably wishes he didn't say it in public. And on camera.

Oh, who the fuck am I kidding? It's not like any of them gives a shit about "journalistic integrity" anymore.

Bow down and worship Him, Evan. Provide Him with offerings and sacrifices (like the last shreds of your credibility). You know you want to. You know you need to.

Update: Watch it and try not to throw up a little in your mouth as the death spiral of our independent, free press shifts into hyperdrive...
