I'm obliged to link Jeff McAwesome's rant, not only for the casual swearing, or even the facecocking, but the 300 reference made me think of another scene as a representation of the the relationship between the GOP elite and the base,

Leonidas as the voice of the base, of course. It'd sound about like this though,

Conservative: Republican, what is your profession?

GOPer: Uh, I, uh, belch forth tired talking points that, uh, I don't even really believe in anymore.
