Nice To See The Religion of Peace Has Standards

At least they have standards when it comes to marrying of daughters.

Ten-year-old girls are ready for marriage, according to Saudi Arabia's most senior cleric.

Sheikh Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh, the country's grand mufti, told Al Hayat newspaper that those saying ten or 12-year-old girls are too young to marry are being 'unfair' to them.

Al Sheikh's comments come at a time when Saudi human rights groups have been pushing the government to put an end to marriages involving the very young and to define a minimum age for marriage.

In the past few months, Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or very young boys.

Hilarious request

The DNC protests - the gift that keeps on giving.

I shot some video with my point-and-shoot camera during the DNC protests (link for the three people who I haven't already pimped those pictures to) and posted it on YouTube. I got a message through YouTube today in response to this video:

I'm Kristofer Goldsmith
I'm Kris, a member of IVAW whom you've got a video of posted on your youtube channel. I'd like to request that you remove it from the internet, because I find it to be incomplete, out of context, and legally damaging to me the way that it is posted. Thank you.

-Kristofer Goldsmith
IVAW
Since I believe our shoe-dominatrix holds a law degree, and I know Gabriel pops over here from time to time too, would they care to offer a legal opinion?  Would anyone care to speculate as to how long it takes before YouTube pulls the video?  Or make any other observations regarding this video?  I don't really feel that it's incomplete or out of context, but it could just be me.  I'm thinking my answer is already decided, but if everyone here thinks I'm wrong to have posted that video it might just change my mind.

Thank goodness for slow Sundays

Since it's Sunday, and Sundays are slow, I can post this without feeling I'm burning valuable bits.

There's a pro-Israel protest on the Capitol steps in Denver scheduled for 2pm MST.  I will be twitting from there, and will be posting pictures to DenverStuff when I get home.  If it's preannounced that someone's going to nuke the Capitol to get rid of all of us, please d me so I can smile at the bombs.

Update: pics are up.  Now accepting theories on why everyone on the pro-Israel side was smiley and happy, and everyone on the pro-Hamas site was grouchy and hateful.  And I learned a new phrase today: soft jihad.

Gee, A Shipment From Iran To Venezuela? What Could Go Wrong?

Well, at least the Turks stopped this "suspicious shipment".

Suleyman Tosun, a customs official at the Mediterranean port of Mersin, said military experts were asked to examine the material, which was seized last month, and decide whether to let the shipment to go to Venezuela.

Authorities detected the equipment during a search of 22 containers labeled "tractor parts," Tosun said. They were brought to Mersin by trucks from neighboring Iran, he said. Turkey's Interior Ministry said an investigation was under way.

I wonder if this shipment was all legit.

Anyone up for a French Auto Roast?

Over a 1000 cars torched over the New Year celebrations, also, I'd note this,

Officials were also on guard against possible attacks after five sticks of dynamite were left in a Paris department store just before Christmas by a so-far unidentified group demanding a withdrawal of French troops from Afghanistan.

Must have just been some YOUEEs, the elusive little buggers.

Why not save the trip and just "martyr" yourself at home?

Unsurprisingly, the Iranians are pissed about Israel's decision to go after Hamas for lobbing rockets at innocent Israeli citizens.  Some of them are even volunteering to form "suicide brigades" to attack Israel, though it's not exactly clear how they would get there.

On Sunday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a religious decree to Muslims to defend the people of Gaza in any way possible and said anyone who died from this would be a martyr.

Following that, five hard-line student groups and the Combatant Clergy Society began signing up volunteers for military, financial or propaganda aid to Gaza.
They have a Combatant Clergy Society? Of course they do.

But there apparently was one (brief) positive development...
Criticism of Hamas is rare in Iran. However, in an unusual move, the Iranian Kargozaran newspaper published a letter from another student group which called Hamas a terrorist organization for taking refuge in "kindergartens and hospitals." Following this, the Kargozaran, a reformist publication close to former Iranian president Hashemi Rafsanjani, was shut down.
Gee, what a shock. Seriously, though, let's hope the paper's editors and employees are safe. I don't think the Mullahs buy into the whole "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" thing.

One Way To Fight Media Distortion

Just start your own YouTube channel.

"The blogosphere and new media are another war zone," said IDF Foreign Press Branch head Maj. Avital Leibovich. "We have to be relevant there."

Her sentiment reflects a growing awareness in the Israeli government that part of the failure of the 2006 Second Lebanon War was Israel's lack of readiness for the intense media debate surrounding its operations.

Since the beginning of the Gaza air strikes, Israeli politicians have been appearing regularly on the largest international news networks to defend the IDF. Leibovich's YouTube initiative is another piece of the new media offensive.

Minnesota Has A Serious Jihadi Problem

Usually, the pretentious Powerline guys are on top of analyzing the out of control problems popping up with the Somali population and the rise of a clan-like sharia system in certain neighborhoods in the Twin Cities. The most high profile incident involved Somali cab drivers who refused to drive passengers who carried alcohol or dogs with them.

But so far, and I may have missed it, the guys who love to remind you ad nauseum that they attended super exclusive private schools and Dartmouth and how the Republicans will always lose, have missed discusing the rise of Somalis leaving their families and winding up fighting in Africa for assorted Islamic groups. So, it falls upon these half-witted shoulders to bring the issue to the fore.

Nearly two decades of civil war have ripped apart Somalia, including an invasion two years ago by troops from neighboring Ethiopia that ousted an Islamist government that U.S. officials say was allied with al Qaeda. Ethiopia has said it plans to withdraw, which would likely make way for the loose coalition of Islamist insurgents threatening to retake the central government's seat in Mogadishu.

U.S. Somali community leaders estimate that as many as 20 men may have left the U.S. to fight in the past two years.

The reports have raised concern among counterterrorism officials about immigrant youths being recruited by radical groups. For years, terrorism experts have believed that better assimilation of immigrants in the U.S. than elsewhere makes the threat of radicalization of young Muslims less than it is in Britain and other countries with large immigrant communities beset by high unemployment and less opportunity. The Somali case could cause that view to be reassessed.

E.K. Wilson, an FBI special agent in the bureau's Minneapolis office, said he couldn't confirm the existence of an investigation, but he said the FBI is aware that "a number of young Somali men from throughout the United States have left, potentially to fight with terrorist groups. We're in the process of working with the local Somali community to get the parents to come to us with concerns about radicalization of youths."

The FBI confirmed it is assisting the Somali government in the October bombing investigation, and that it helped repatriate the body of an American killed in the incident. The FBI wouldn't identify the person.

At a news conference at a Minneapolis mosque earlier this month, family members of three young men, 17 to 19 years old, told reporters that they were alarmed after the teens disappeared in early November. They next heard from the teens that they were in Somalia and had no contact thereafter.

The FBI is trying to find out whether there are recruitment networks helping the men travel to Somalia, according to people familiar with the probe.

The investigation is complicated by the close-knit, clan-dominated culture of Somalia, which persists even in the diaspora. The nation has been without a unified central government for nearly two decades, and has been ripped apart by conflict among warlords and clans.

"It's very serious," Mr. Jamal said. "The community finds itself dumbfounded. One thing they are really interested in is to find who is doing the financing, who is doing the training and who is sending them to fight a war."

Why You Should Keep Your Father in Law Happy

He just may do this to you.

The son-in-law's arrest followed a tip-off submitted by the father-in-law to the FBI’s website in which the Swede was reported to be “most likely linked to Muslim terror org AQ networks in Sweden and is known to speak about helping Muslim world on US terror.”

The man was arrested by armed guards as his plane touched down in Orlando. He was questioned for several hours and was forbidden from contacting anyone.

In his witness statement to Lund District Court he said he was forced to sit in a cell wearing only shorts and flip-flops. The cell was equipped with just a concrete bed and sackcloth bedclothes and was smeared with blood and faeces, he said. He was released from custody after a day but was forced to return to Sweden, which he said led to his company losing contracts. The arrest also means that he must now apply for a visa before making future visits to the US.

Lund District Court ruled that the father-in-law made the report to the FBI as revenge for what he saw as his son-in-law’s unreasonable behaviour towards his daughter. The couple were undergoing a separation at the time.

Among the reasons he gave for making the report was that his son-in-law enjoyed playing computer war games in which he would take the role of an Arab. He also claimed that he “practically said that the Taliban had the right idea about dealing with women.” The son-in-law denied ever playing war games or making comments about the Taliban and their views on women.

I Actually Have Faith In Humanity

Beer is returning to Sudan.

Entrepreneurs on bicycles would ride the rutted roads to Uganda, bringing back as many crates of alcohol as they could carry. Today restaurants in Juba offer wines, beers and spirits.

Finding alcohol in northern Sudan, however, remains difficult, though not impossible. In colonial times, British officers would sip pink gins or mugs of Camel beer in Khartoum's network of members-only clubs.

These, along with the British-built Blue Nile Brewery that produced Camel in Khartoum, dried up with the arrival of Sharia.

In recent years one restaurant in Khartoum became famous for serving beer in teapots — one just had to know to order the “special tea”.

Another establishment offered imported Tusker lager from Kenya; waiters would discreetly ask whether any Sudanese would be joining the table, before placing an empty bottle of alcohol-free lager on the table next to a full glass of the real thing.

Even these places have gone dry in the past two years and Westerners now have to rely on contacts at embassies or the UN, who are legally entitled to bring alcohol into the country.

The new brewery in Juba is expected to be up and running by February, taking water from the White Nile and producing soft drinks as well as the first Sudanese beer for many years.

David Raad, an advisor to SAB Miller, said: “The recipe is still being worked on but the market here prefers a lighter, crisper beer — a lager.”

South Sudan was left chronically underdeveloped by the civil war. Three years of peace has begun to change that, with new schools, hospitals and roads, but much of Juba is still given over to tent cities, where aid workers, businessmen and diplomats live and work while waiting for more permanent structures to be built.

Remember This The Next Time You Shop At A Convenience Store In St. Louis

The store owners may be up to some mischief.

Since 2000, the organization has profited from bank and wire fraud, receipt of stolen property and the purchasing and selling of contraband cigarettes, U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said.

The group allegedly used couriers who traveled from the United States to the Palestinian territories carrying cash, jewelry, cashiers checks, endorsed and unendorsed personal and business account checks, Hanaway said.

Hanaway said the Hamed organization, led by Bassam Hisham Hamed, 33, of Florissant, Mo., owned and operated convenience stores that were used to receive and sell stolen goods, including infant formula, computers, Global Positioning System devices and cigarettes.

The enterprise allegedly bought the stolen property at rates significantly below fair market retail value and sells the items through the convenience stores at a large profit.

Others indicted include: Ghandi Hisham Hamed 30; Said Jarabaa, 35; Suhail Jarabaa, 28; Mohammed Badwan, 33; Mazen Badwan, 36; Abdelkarim Badwan, 58; Nael Abdeljabbar, 48; Nayef Lutfeyyah, 66; Ayoub Hisham Hamed, 27; Mahmoud Ghannam, 46; Mahir Mohammad, 44; Shahrazad Ramadan, 55; and Rayqa Jarabaa, 58.

Wow. Sending GPS Systems to the Palestinian Territory seems to be more than just low level mob activity. And since the Palestinian Authority (now run by Hamas)undoubtedly gets a cut of any money or "stuff" flowing into their areas, I have a feeling this just isn't some guy sending extra cash back to his mother.

Oh, Mickey, you're so...dead

Let's play a little game, shall we? I'm going to redact a certain word from this part of a story that appeared in the UK's Telegraph. See if you can guess what the word is.  This will be fun!

"According to _______ law, the mouse is a repulsive, corrupting creature. How do you think children view mice today – after Tom and Jerry?

"Even creatures that are repulsive by nature, by logic, and according to _______ law have become wonderful and are loved by children. Even mice.

"Mickey Mouse has become an awesome character, even though according to _______ law, Mickey Mouse should be killed in all cases."

I'll give you three guesses about what I gave the ol' snippety-snip to, and the first two don't count.

Mustache wars

Gunfights. Suicide bombings. Beheadings. That's all par for the course when you're a Jitardi. But this is an outrage:

Hamas has resumed its policy of shaving the mustaches of rival Fatah members to humiliate them as a form of punishment, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Reports of such punishments surfaced in January, though Hamas denied it had resorted to close shaves in its struggle to assert dominance over Palestinian politics.

Fatah officials renewed their allegations Wednesday, according to the Jerusalem Post, which said Hamas, in turn, claimed followers' beards had been sabotaged by Fatah officials.

You know, I've been trying to think up a joke about the U.N. passing a resolution condemning Norelco and Gillette for crimes against humanity for the last ten minutes or so, but this situation is just too funny on its own. You can't make this stuff up.

Where I Award My First Ever "Boo Fucking Hoo!" Award

The winner for this session goes to three of the Islamist terrorists who were key players in the 2002 bombing of a nightclub in Bali, Indonesia. These fucktards, through their lawyers, are suing to challenge their death penalty sentences.

Why? Because the bullets from the firing squad might hurt them.

Defence lawyer Mahendradatta foreshadowed a Constitutional Court challenge next week, arguing the convicted terrorists could suffer unnecessary pain if they do not die immediately when the lethal punishment is carried out.

It is seen as another attempt to delay the executions of Amrozi, his brother Mukhlas and Imam Samudra, who could be executed at any time over the 2002 Bali bombings, which killed 202 people including 88 Australians.

The three will face an Indonesian firing squad, and would be shot a second time if the first bullet does not kill them instantly, Mahendradatta said.

"We are not closing our eyes to the possibility of Amrozi being executed,'' he told reporters.

''(But) there's time when the convicted will feel pain until he is shot a second time.

"Amrozi was sentenced to death, not to be tortured.

"On Tuesday or Wednesday at least we will submit a material challenge to the Constitutional Court about this law.''

The comments could spark anger among families of the 202 people killed in the Bali bombings organised by the three terrorists, who have never expressed remorse for their non-Muslim victims.

"We will seek the execution without pain - we have to encourage the government and legislators to find a way to execute without pain,'' he added.

Lets get this straight: 202 innocent people killed by these animals, many more injured permanently, and these oxygen thieves are unrepentant? Yeah, I could really give a shit if they feel pain from being shot. Hell, in fact, I hope the first round of bullets DO miss the mark. Just to let these dickhats know what pain is like.

Jihadis punish homosexuality by...raping gay men

Allah just gave them an extra-special place in Paradise for their actions, I'm sure:

Kamal was just 16 when gunmen snatched him off the streets of Baghdad, stuffed him in the trunk of a car and whisked him away to a house. But the real terror was about to begin.

The men realized he was gay, Kamal said, when he took his shirt off and they saw that his chest was shaved.

[...]

His pleas went unheeded. "The other two kidnappers took off my clothes by force, and, at that time, I saw them as three dirty animals trying to tear my body apart."

He was held for 15 days, released only after his family paid a $1,500 ransom. He was raped every day. Only once, he said, was he allowed to talk to his family during captivity. "I told my family that I was beaten by them, but I did not dare to tell my family that I was raped by them. I could not say it, it's too much shame."

But don't worry, because George W. Bush is the real enemy.  He won't let gays get married.  In fact, this attack happend while AmeriKKKan troops were occupying and terrorizing Iraqi citizens.  It's only natural that they'd act out this way.
