Instapundit is needlessly confused:

“Despite the results of the 2008 presidential election, Americans, by a 2-to-1 margin, say their political views in recent years have become more conservative rather than more liberal, 39% to 18%, with 42% saying they have not changed. While independents and Democrats most often say their views haven’t changed, more members of all three major partisan groups indicate that their views have shifted to the right rather than to the left.” Hmm. Can this be true?

Of course it's true.  Everyone knows that people become more conservative as they get older.  Maybe not everyone but I can easily see a two to one margin.  This doesn't mean that the country is getting more conservative overall, just that people move to the right as they accumulate life experiences and the utopian promises and platitudes of the left run against the cold rejection of reality.

Remember, there are millions of young people that are already liberal because of youth and indoctrination coming along behind any increasingly conservative group of adults.
