I expect it to be just a small part of a broader opening salvo.  She's not going to go away, and I'm guessing she'll try and use Twitter as a communication/fundraising tool with alternative media and conservative activists.  Conventional wisdom says that she's going nowhere politically, and if things operated in a vacuum, they'd be right, bailing in Alaska would absolutely be a career-ender.  But right now there is such a huge vacuum in GOP leadership, she can pretty much take over as the spokes...woman...person?  for conservatism, since the GOP leadership has deserted their posts.  Gonna be interesting to see what happens.

Instapundit is needlessly confused:

Can this be true?

Of course it's true.  Everyone knows that people become more conservative as they get older.  Maybe not everyone but I can easily see a two to one margin.  This doesn't mean that the country is getting more conservative overall, just that people move to the right as they accumulate life experiences and the utopian promises and platitudes of the left run against the cold rejection of reality.

Remember, there are millions of young people that are already liberal because of youth and indoctrination coming along behind any increasingly conservative group of adults.

Good lord this is brutal, Ziegler takes Mike Allen completely apart.  We need about 10,000 John Zieglers, the left and media would be reduced to nothing within months.
