Bring your appetite!

Are you hungry for some good old fashioned Ad Hominem?  Then come on down to the Huffington Post, where it's served up hot and fresh daily!  Today they're discussing the scandal so nice they named it twice: Gatesgate!

Be warned, though, that the comments have turned into a mass grave which is swallowing strawmen by the hundreds.  Click on the link if you dare, but first be sure to lay a sheet of Saran Wrap over your keyboard to protect it from the tears which shall surely short it out as you weep for the poor, innocent strawmen who never got the chance to dance with their Dorothys.

Heh

I say again, Heh. (with apologies to the puppy blender for stealing his phrase)

I've seen this video by Chris Rock that American Digest has and it's spot on.

It's Chris Rock explaining how not to get your ass kicked by the police.

You probably won't get your ass kicked if you just use common sense
(well, that leaves out our over-educated "betters" like that Harvard tool V.)..snip...
If you jump a turnstile you might get off with a warning, if you jump a turnstile with a gun and smoking a joint, maybe you need your ass kicked (Heh V)
.

And the money quote
When an officer approaches your car, Be Polite.

Bing-fucking-O. It costs nothing to be polite to the police and it can cost a lot to not be polite.

As someone who has had more than his share of dealing with the police, I know what I'm saying.

I'm white, in HS most of my friends were white. We caroused around the greater Woodstock, NY region at all hours of the day and night. Woodstock is a very white region, so racism wasn't involved in what happened to me and my friends.

Woodstock is a small town with three and sometimes four police depts running around, Woodstock cops, Ulster County Cops, NY State Police and occasionally the police in a nearby town, like Olive, encroach.
Woodstock is not a high crime area. So there are 3-4 bored sets of cops around just looking for something to do.
I've dealt with them all, at 4pm, midnight, 2 am, at 4 am, at 6 am (not morning, the end of the night) and I've never been put into handcuffs by any of them. Even when I was doing something tres stupid. Like sitting on the side of route 28 at 6am, hitch-hiking and throwing rocks at the street light at the 375 intersection. Since we had been wasted all night, none of the rocks came near the light, they all landed in the intersection of a 55 MPH highway. In a big pile. The police showed up, I told my buddy to shut up and I handled it. They let us go with minimal hassling.

When I wasn't around, the same buddy was a dick. He was handcuffed often, with my cousin. My cousin is an idiot too. He was handcuffed for being stupid and he did the Capt. Kirk thing (jumping over his handcuffed hands to get them in front), the cop thought that was so funny he made my cousin do it the other way. Naturally, he fell flat on his unprotected face when he tried.

And he deserved it. If I had been there, I would have shut them both up and handled it myself, but I wasn't, so my cousin got a bloody nose and they were handcuffed for an hour or more before they were let go. (how funny is it that I'm the diplomatic one? V)

When I get pulled over, I take off my sunglasses and put my hands on the wheel. I usually get a warning.

So as Chris Rock says, don't be an asshole and you too can keep from getting your ass kicked by cops.

Too bad our highly-educated, intellectual-, moral-, and political-"betters" can't figure that out.

It's of a piece with the riots in Cincinnati a few years ago, for example. Some kids were doing what they shouldn't have been doing, a cop, who was used to patrolling the war zone that is the ghetto in Cincinnati, reacted strongly to the kid being a dick (the kid was being overly non-cooperative and did something that looked very aggressive, as I recall) and the kid came out on the short end of the stick.

Naturally, it was racism. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they are often shot at so they have to be very careful or they can die at any time.

And just like Obama talking about how Latinos and blacks are bothered by the cops more. Ummmmm, they also commit a disproportional amount of crime. That's usually good cop-work, not racism you fucking tool.

I do have to admire Obama for the whole brouhaha though.

He claimed he wanted a national discourse on race. Well, he's getting it and it's mostly calling him a dumb fuck.

Obamacare, Logan's Run, And Dr. Kevorkian

No, this is not the answer to a Carnac routine. It's what Seniors may face if The Won gets his way.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: A RedState source sat behind a top aide to Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY) and heard the aide admit that "the increase in Hospice care which will solve the prolonging of life issue." As you know, Democrats have been open about their desire to push seniors toward euthanasia as a cost savings option. In fact, the Democrats already have in the legislation a provisionrequiring senior citizens to receive instructions every five years on dying with dignity.

It's always great to hear liberals speak when they think no one is listening.

Rep. Paul Tonko is a freshman Democrat from Albany, NY. He's a typical non-descript eastern machine politician whose a robot for Obama and Pelosi and doesn't have too many original thoughts. Earlier this week one of his top aides was flying to Washington from the district. She was accompanied by what appeared to be a special interest Washington DC lobbyist, who probably came to Albany to attend some type of big money golf, gambling, and cigars fundraiser for Tonko.

Anyway, unbeknownst to them, a hero of the conservative movement sat quietly behind them. It was impossible to avoid listening to their boisterous conversation, and Tonko's aide didn't disappoint.

Naturally, most of the banter dealt with the health care bill, and here are a few of the gems:

The two were talking about whether Tonko would even be given time to read the bill. She told the lobbyist, "well he pays me to read it for him".

"[The] costliest part [of the Obama healthcare bill] will be the physician's rate cut," she said. Lots of political capital is going to be spent to get that through.

And, for the crowning glory, the aide feels that "probably the best part of the bill is the increase in Hospice care which will solve the prolonging of life issue." {well, at least that is one job Obama can save or create-ed.}

This seems to prove the argument that the Obama bureaucrats will eventually decide who lives and who dies.

The continuing crisis

We have to ram this socialist turd sandwich through Congress now because OMG THE SKY IS FALLING!!!1!eleven!1!!

“If we don’t get health care done now, then no one’s health insurance is going to be secure. You’re going to continue to see premiums going up at astronomical rates, out of pocket costs going up at astronomical rates, and people who lose their jobs. . . finding themselves in a situation where they cannot get health care.”

“That is not a future I accept for the United States of America,” Obama said.

That's funny, Barack, I'm sure a lot of us were thinking the same thing about the future of our country, but for some very different reasons.

Update: I should also note that those statements were preceded by The Big Lie:

“I've said that health insurance reform cannot add to our deficit over the next decade, and I mean it,” Obama said. “Let me repeat: Health insurance reform cannot add to our deficit over the next decade and I mean it.”

Yeah, because it's not like the deficit goes skyrocketing every time you open your fucking piehole or anything.

No Excuses! No Excuses!

Um, WTF? Obama has to work two weeks on a speech about race relations? That's longer than it took to pass the stimulus recovery what the hell are they calling it now? bill. You'd think this might be something he could actually speak on extemporaneously.

Rousing up his audience, Obama offered his most direct speech on race since winning the White House, a mix of personal reflection and policy promotion. He worked on it for about two weeks and revised it until shortly before he spoke, his aides said, underscoring the importance of his message and his audience.

"No one has written your destiny for you," he said to "all the other Barack Obamas out there" who could one day grow up to be president. "Your destiny is in your hands, and don't you forget that. That's what we have to teach all of our children! No excuses! No excuses! If someone as unqualified as I am can make it to the White House, each and every one of you can be president too!"
I might have made that last part up.

Either Obama doesn't recognize that he was put in office largely because of the color of his skin and not despite it, or he really thinks he's qualified and doing a good job of leading the country. Obama's ultimately doing more damage to race relations and the potential for a future minority president than I think he realizes - what message is sent if the first black president turns the nation into a welfare nanny state? And WTF is wrong with the Democratic party that they couldn't find a stronger, more experienced, more competent minority candidate to run for office? Since they're the party of the minorities, shouldn't they have been able to pick the cream of the crop to run?

Barack Obama: Polished Diplomat

Nice to see he cares about the feelings of the Russians, who tend to get a bit itchy when discussing their history.

Referring to the long history of Russia-U.S. trade stretching back more than two centuries, Obama told an audience of business people in Moscow:

“Along the way, you gave us a pretty good deal on Alaska. Thank you.”

Just waiting for Tina Fey and SNL to have a good time with this one.

Barack Obama: The Smartest Man On The Face Of The Planet

How smart is he?

So smart, he knows more about the Russian Power Structure than the Russians do.

Putin surrendered the presidency to protege Dmitry Medvedev last May to take the lesser post of prime minister, but most political analysts say Putin remains Russia's ultimate decision maker.

The dual leadership has left foreign leaders to walk a difficult diplomatic tightrope. In line with protocol Obama met Medvedev ahead of talks with the lower ranking Putin.

At a news conference Obama gave a carefully worded reply about the effectiveness of the leadership tandem when a U.S. journalist bluntly asked "who is really in charge here in Russia?"

But minutes later, speaking about Medvedev's objections to a controversial missile defense system planned for central Europe, Obama slipped:

"I suspect when I speak to President..eh.. Prime Minister Putin tomorrow, he will say the same thing."

Once again, I am reminded of the "If a Republican President had said this..." line.

But I Thought Obama Loved Dictators For Life

Look at what is going on in the land of "Yellow Cake".

The White House says it’s worried about Niger President Mamadou Tandja’s decision to dissolve his nation’s top court in an apparent effort to extend power.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said in a statement Wednesday that the United States is concerned about Tandja’s attempt to hold onto his office despite term limits. Gibbs says the actions undermine the African nation’s progress toward good governance.

"Good governance"? Yeah, good luck with that, pal, especially coming from a product of the ACORN/Chicago School of politics.

Anyway, I bet this Niger guy must not have paid enough in campaign contributions to Obama, so he has to go. I mean, two dictators (Iran and Honduras) were good enough for Obama to defend, so what did this guy do that was so wrong?

Hey, Obamatrons...

...when I see things like this, I have to laugh at your sad, hopeychangey asses, seeing as how you got played so badly.  I mean, if the last few weeks are any indication, I get the feeling that I'll be posting this video fairly often over the next few years...

Let me know when your unicorns finally show up, dumbasses.  Here's hoping your New Messiah remembered to poke air holes in their crates.

"Ah-Ha-Ha!" indeed.  Suck it. Suck it dry.

The personal is presidential

I was talking to my brother last night, and he pointed me to this article on the tobacco legislation that Obama signed. He said something to the effect of "Man, have you noticed how this guy makes sure to insert himself into every issue, as if it's all about him?"

I had to chastise my own brother for being unfair to Obama, unfortunately.

"That's just not true," I told him. "About half of the time, he talks about how Bush is to blame for whatever policy clusterfuck he's actually responsible for."

My brother is actually just as much of a Right-Wing hatemonger as you and I, so he conceded the point. Gracefully, I might add.

Sometimes, I'm not sure whether or not the fact that I have no close relatives who happen to be hippie scum is a blessing or a hindrance. I mean, sure, I don't need the domestic violence charges from family dinners, but I could stand to sharpen my debating skills.

Oh, and here's something stupid from the linked article:

The law also requires that tobacco companies fully disclose ingredients and additives, stop targeting youth with their marketing campaigns, quit using terms such as "light," "low" and "mild" to market their products, and include warning labels on packaging that dominate the front and rear panels.
Yes, because smokers (like me) have no idea that our habit is bad for our health. I mean, it's not like anyone has warned us about the dangers posed by what we choose to do, right?

Let me add a few more things below the fold...

Michelle's husband does too little, too late

For the first time in my adult life, I'm ashamed of my country.

Update: Obama's wannabe boyfriend, Andrew Sullivan (no link, per editorial policy) is predictably, well, Andrew Sullivan...

What a relief to have someone with this degree of restraint and prudence and empathy - refusing to be baited by Khamenei or the neocons, and yet taking an eloquent stand, as we all do, in defense of freedom and non-violence.
Yeah, and it only took him a week or so. Better late than never, huh?

Oh, and why don't you just go ahead and say "Jews" instead of "neocons" like you know you want to?

You and your man-crush are a fucking joke, and a bad one at that.

Update 2: A-fucking-men:
In 1823, first-term congressman Daniel Webster spoke up in support of the Greek revolution. Responding to critics who said that mere rhetorical support would do the revolutionaries no good, Webster said: "I hope it may. It may give them courage and spirit. It may assure them of public regard, teach them that they are not wholly forgotten by the civilized world, and inspire them with constancy in the pursuit of their great end."

And in any case, Webster continued, support for those fighting for freedom abroad was "due to our own character, and called for by our own duty."

That whirring noise you hear is Webster spinning furiously in his grave.

What he said

Some people say that Obama is right to take a hands-off approach to what's going on in Iran.  Ralph Peters disagrees.  So do I, but he does it better than me.  Seriously, just yelling "You fucking cowardly pussy!" over and over doesn't make for a good column.

Today's Dose Of Stupid

Courtesy of the O-Care Bill Clusterfuck.

Democrats on three House panels continue to meet privately to seek consensus on a single plan. Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee said they were trying to decide whether to finance coverage of the uninsured with one broad-based tax, like the value-added tax, or a combination of smaller taxes.

I'm sorry to have to say this...

...but we have a total fucking pussy in the White House:

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone by saying that, but it's true. The man who is ostensibly the leader of the Free World just couched his statement in a bunch of lawyer-esque babble instead of supporting people who are rising up in the streets to demand their right to self-determination. Truman and JFK are surely spinning in their graves as we speak, but today's Democrat party probably couldn't give a damn.

Total. Fucking. Pussy.

Sue me for saying so.
