Opposition to gay marriage =/= homophobia.

Traveling over 900km to kill your gay son? = homophobia

1 Ok I know this is offtopic (and I'll cheerfully accept my beatings later), but please please please... I've never understood something and I need someone to explain this to me:

Oner Ceylan of Istanbul's gay rights group Lambda says it's a landmark case.

Why is the Greek letter Lambda associated with gay groups? Why not Alpha or Tau or Psi? Why Lambda?

4 Why is the Greek letter Lambda associated with gay groups?

It was originally used by the GAA (iirc) in early 70's. The reason behind using a greek letter was for purposefully confusion with fraternity symbols so as to prevent gay bashing. In the last 70's (again from memory) it was adopted as an official symbol by some international gay rights group.

There's a lot of speculation as to why lambda but there's no definitive answer. The main rationale is for the connection with liberation.

!= means NOT equal, =/= doesn't mean not equal, in fact, you will get a notify fail if use that command line.
