Meanwhile, Back On The Frontlines

It seems Arab Media is *shock* helping out Hamas.

Nice To See The Religion of Peace Has Standards

At least they have standards when it comes to marrying of daughters.

Ten-year-old girls are ready for marriage, according to Saudi Arabia's most senior cleric.

Sheikh Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh, the country's grand mufti, told Al Hayat newspaper that those saying ten or 12-year-old girls are too young to marry are being 'unfair' to them.

Al Sheikh's comments come at a time when Saudi human rights groups have been pushing the government to put an end to marriages involving the very young and to define a minimum age for marriage.

In the past few months, Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or very young boys.

Hilarious request

The DNC protests - the gift that keeps on giving.

I shot some video with my point-and-shoot camera during the DNC protests (link for the three people who I haven't already pimped those pictures to) and posted it on YouTube. I got a message through YouTube today in response to this video:

I'm Kristofer Goldsmith
I'm Kris, a member of IVAW whom you've got a video of posted on your youtube channel. I'd like to request that you remove it from the internet, because I find it to be incomplete, out of context, and legally damaging to me the way that it is posted. Thank you.

Since I believe our shoe-dominatrix holds a law degree, and I know Gabriel pops over here from time to time too, would they care to offer a legal opinion?  Would anyone care to speculate as to how long it takes before YouTube pulls the video?  Or make any other observations regarding this video?  I don't really feel that it's incomplete or out of context, but it could just be me.  I'm thinking my answer is already decided, but if everyone here thinks I'm wrong to have posted that video it might just change my mind.

Thank goodness for slow Sundays

Since it's Sunday, and Sundays are slow, I can post this without feeling I'm burning valuable bits.

There's a pro-Israel protest on the Capitol steps in Denver scheduled for 2pm MST.  I will be twitting from there, and will be posting pictures to DenverStuff when I get home.  If it's preannounced that someone's going to nuke the Capitol to get rid of all of us, please d me so I can smile at the bombs.

Update: pics are up.  Now accepting theories on why everyone on the pro-Israel side was smiley and happy, and everyone on the pro-Hamas site was grouchy and hateful.  And I learned a new phrase today: soft jihad.

Gee, A Shipment From Iran To Venezuela? What Could Go Wrong?

Well, at least the Turks stopped this "suspicious shipment".

Suleyman Tosun, a customs official at the Mediterranean port of Mersin, said military experts were asked to examine the material, which was seized last month, and decide whether to let the shipment to go to Venezuela.

Authorities detected the equipment during a search of 22 containers labeled "tractor parts," Tosun said. They were brought to Mersin by trucks from neighboring Iran, he said. Turkey's Interior Ministry said an investigation was under way.

I wonder if this shipment was all legit.

Anyone up for a French Auto Roast?

Over a 1000 cars torched over the New Year celebrations, also, I'd note this,

Officials were also on guard against possible attacks after five sticks of dynamite were left in a Paris department store just before Christmas by a so-far unidentified group demanding a withdrawal of French troops from Afghanistan.

Must have just been some YOUEEs, the elusive little buggers.
