Memorializing the dead and missing

The blog title, Iran Body Count, sounds less sensitive about the contents than it actually is.

I came across Iran Body Count while trying to track down a rumor retweeted by IranRiggedElect that the Iranian government is offering payments to families of victims of Iranian government violence if the families are willing to say the deceased was a member of the Basij and was killed by protesters.

Let's make them bomb the schools next!

Hamas has a history of putting bunkers in places where the repercussions for bombing are so great, any group with a conscience hesitates to take action.  So it should be unsurprising that their latest setup is to dig tunnels near and underneath UN buildings, including a UN school right on the Gaza-Israel border that was damaged when a tunnel collapsed underneath it.

A couple of thoughts...

When is the UN going to start acknowledging that Hamas is responsible for injuries and deaths resulting from putting women and children in the way?

Human casualties aside*, would it really be that awful if a bunch of UN buildings went away?

*Given that Hamas views human casualties as a wash at best and a bonus at worst (in normal moral terms, anyway - I think they would call the bonus a good thing), I think it's perfectly rational to have this discussion.

Hoist On Their Own Retard.

Mike at Cold Fury's been harshing my mellow since at least some time in 2002 and maybe earlier, I'm not sure when I found his blog. If you're not reading him you should be. He doesn't post all that much, but when he gets off a good one, he really gets off a good ope.

In this post he links to an American Thinker article that points out something that should be hit hard, hit often and shouted from the rooftops, considering the current health care "debate". I am a little upset I didn't think about it.

The government is considering confiscating privately-owned Palestinian land near the West Bank settlement of Ofra, contrary to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pledge during his Bar-Ilan speech not to take such actions.

The announcement, signed by senior assistant state prosecutor Avi Licht, says the state is considering turning the site into a regional sewage treatment plant that would serve both Ofra and the nearby Palestinian communities.

I'm going to guess this isn't the serious self-reflection that Obama was hoping for.

Go reflect yourself, President Obama

Apparently President Obama feels that Israel has a demographic problem, not a Palestinian terror problem or a nuclear Iran problem.

U.S. President Barack Obama met with 15 American Jewish leaders at the White House for the first time on Monday. The president and the Jewish officials huddled for talks aimed at clearing the air following allegations that his administration was taking a tough line with Israel over settlement activity.

At the meeting, Obama told the leaders that he wants to help Israel overcome its demographic problem by reaching an agreement on a two-state solution, but that in order to do so, Israel would need "to engage in serious self-reflection."

There's a whole bunch more of Obama sending Israel a collective fuck you, including taking a wait-and-see attitude toward Iran's nuclear program and refusing to tone down his administration's opposition to the natural growth of existing Israeli settlements.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Jews just don't get it.

Ira Forman, CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council, told ABC News that Obama said the media sometimes plays up disagreements between the US and Israel.

The U.S. pressuring Arab countries is a "dog bites man" story, he quoted the president as saying, adding that Obama assured the participants that he has applied just as much pressure on the Palestinian Authority as he has on Israel in steps towards peace.

This is a time when I wish we had some moonbat trolls floating around here, as I'd really like to hear their views of what sort of pressure Obama is putting on the Palestinian Authority. Obama encouraged the Palestinian Authority to beef up security in the West Bank in late May in exchange for Israel ceasing natural settlement growth - that doesn't sound like pressure to me, that sounds like "Get your guns ready while we schmooze Israel into decreasing its settlement population so it's got fewer IDF babes to shoot back at you."

And her ears must have been burning, look who just showed up.

In the Islamic Republic it is illegal to execute a young woman, regardless of her crime, if she is a virgin, he explained. Therefore a "wedding" ceremony is conducted the night before the execution: The young girl is forced to have sexual intercourse with a prison guard - essentially raped by her "husband."

"I regret that, even though the marriages were legal," he said.

Why the regret, if the marriages were "legal?"

"Because," he went on, "I could tell that the girls were more afraid of their 'wedding' night than of the execution that awaited them in the morning. And they would always fight back, so we would have to put sleeping pills in their food. By morning the girls would have an empty expression; it seemed like they were ready or wanted to die.

"I remember hearing them cry and scream after [the rape] was over," he said. "I will never forget how this one girl clawed at her own face and neck with her finger nails afterwards. She had deep scratches all over her."

I'd like to see any 'feminist' try to defend the Iranian government's behavior, why we shouldn't provide Israel with whatever aid they ask for in combating a government that promotes this sort of evil, and why we're not invading to protect these young girls. The justification of drugging, rape, and execution of young girls, especially in a culture where virginity and marriage is placed at the highest premium for young women, destroys any moral equivalence argument.

"And yet there are people out there who complain about torture if the detainees at Gitmo don't get a fucking fruit cup with dinner" pretty much sums up the cognitive dissonance.

A movie studio in Gaza is producing films about Hamas activists.

What the linked article's not mentioning is that "Imad Akel, a Hamas activist who was killed by Israeli forces in 1993" was wanted in Israel for the deaths of 16 Israelis and Israeli sympathizers.  Activist, that's a funny funny word with a lot of meanings, isn't it?  I thought the right word would be terrorist.

Abbas shows Obama how it's done

Al-Jazeera has been forced to cease operations in the West Bank after making poor little Mahmoud Abbas cry.

Nothing even remotely like this ever happens in the US.  All news organizations are completely independent of politics and would never be so much as shunned for less than favorable news coverage of the President's office.

Someone musta watched too much Bunny Assud

Reston, VA just dodged a bullet on their election for their citizen's association, which is sorta like their local city council except it apparently isn't really a city. This fine example of a walking pile of excrement after a spicy bean burrito lunch was running for office unopposed until someone put two and two together and realized the lunatic is a Ron Paul supporter. And likes badminton.

OK, that's not really what got him axed. What really got him axed through a write-in-campaign that resulted in him scoring less than 2% of the vote is that he's a Holocaust denier, one who has such disdain for Holocaust survivors that he calls their accounts "tragicomic". And he's a troofer, although that is getting much less press as it's easier to tie someone to their direct words than it is to tie them to a public access show that doesn't seem to be available to view unless you actually tune in to the show.

After attending Dartmouth, he obtained a master's degree at American University in Beirut, where he also met his wife, who is Palestinian, and became more sympathetic the Arab view of the conflict with Israel.

"I found I had it all upside down," he said.

So either he was tuning in to Palestinian Children's Television too often or his wife has a really special vagina.

If there's any doubt in anyone's mind about whether this cretin whose cumdumpster mother left the best part of him drying on her thigh after the gangbang is a conservative who just went off the deep end, look here. 

And, um, holy crap, when did MSNBC turn into a lying hatefest? Oh, wait.

My six-year-old lies better than the Iranian government

First they tried to float the possibility that Neda Agha-Soltan was murdered by CIA operatives, now the Iranian government is claiming her death was staged by protesters.

But, according to Iran's Press TV, police chief Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moqadam declared Wednesday that the shooting was a "prearranged scenario" — a "premeditated act of murder" that could not have been committed by Iranian police.

Because, of course, Iranian police could never murder anyone.

The Iranian ambassador to Mexico is speculating that the CIA may be responsible for the death of Neda Agha-Soltan.

"This death of Neda is very suspicious," Ambassador Mohammad Hassan Ghadiri said. "My question is, how is it that this Miss Neda is shot from behind, got shot in front of several cameras, and is shot in an area where no significant demonstration was behind held?"

He suggested that the CIA or another intelligence service may have been responsible.

"Well, if the CIA wants to kill some people and attribute that to the government elements, then choosing women is an appropriate choice, because the death of a woman draws more sympathy," Ghadiri said.

"I am not saying that now the CIA has done this. There are different groups. It could be the [work of another] intelligence service; it could be the CIA; it could be the terrorists. Anyway, there are people who employ these types of methods."

In response, CIA spokesman George Little said, "Any suggestion that the CIA was responsible for the death of this young woman is wrong, absurd and offensive."

How offensive is it, Mr. Little?  Has Iran finally been offensive enough that America is going to do more than waggle its finger at Iran like a wayward two-year-old and assume that when it grows up its behavior will improve?  This is an insult to the CIA, to the American government, and it cheapens every peaceful demonstration that has happened on American soil and worldwide.  And that's outside of the damage to our stature within Iran, and in Mexico.  Why isn't America asking Mexico to toss this charlatan of an ambassador out on his ear?   Ambassador Ghadiri is maligning our country within the borders of a supposed ally, a country that we send billions of dollars to each year with no expectation of repayment, and Mexico sits still while Ghadiri spits at us across our southern border.

Iran is claiming that the bullet that killed Neda was not a type used in Iran - could it have come from the guns of the 5,000 Hezbollah troops that Iran has brought in to massacre its own people?  Is Iran going to imply next that America is responsible for the at least 19 and possibly hundreds of deaths of peaceful demonstrators?  Did we manage to slip in an entire military division while no one was looking, bent on creating chaos in Iran?

Maybe Iran is hoping that Pluggy Joe will offer another ginormous aid package to settle things down in light of the perception that America killed Neda Agha-Soltan.  I certainly wouldn't put that sort of diplomacy out of the reach of the Obama administration.

Hezbollah fighters in Iran

Via ColorMeRed, an Israeli blogger is reporting that there are multiple confirmations of 5,000 Hezbollah fighters in Iran.  There's a letter at the link from an Iranian citizen, asking the Lebanese people to contact their Parliament and demand the recall of the troops. 

I have to reiterate, anyone who thinks that the liberation of Iraq was a bad idea should take a moment to consider what Saddam Hussein would be plotting right now.
