The UN finally did something I agree with

Kinda, anyway.

The U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees said Friday it has halted all aid shipments into the Gaza Strip due to interference by the ruling Hamas militant group.

This is the second aid shipment in a week that has been 'interferenced' by Hamas. 

More than "credible assurances from the Hamas government that such thefts will end" need to be forthcoming before aid is reinstated. Returning all the stolen aid from both shipments would be a good start, with penalties much harsher than a finger-waggling for the next theft.  (What, you think this won't happen again?)

Hamas rationalizes the theft, kinda like a welfare mom rationalizing spending her food stamps on Cheetos and Kool-Aid.:

In Gaza, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum called UNRWA's decision "unjustified."

He said Hamas supports UNRWA's work but believes the agency gives some of its aid to groups attached to Hamas' rivals.

He urged UNRWA "to put an end to using aid for political means, and to distribute it to all the needy equally."

  The contradiction between the second and third sentences there is making my head spin around like an upside-down turtle on a highway.  I'll be interested to see the reaction of the populace of Gaza - will the UN be blamed for stopping aid, or is this behavior from their government having an impact on the popularity of Hamas?

Zionist Coca-Cola

Yet another reason to boycott Pepsi...

The Iranian government has called on a soft drink producer to clarify its links with the US company Coca-Cola following a decision to boycott "Zionist" products, a press report said on Monday.

The other pictures

Those of you familiar with my other gig know that I generally try to keep things PG-13, which is why the following pictures are posted here instead of there.

Pictures below the fold contain graphic images.  No, not the kind you're hoping for, I'm not accidentally linking lesbian pr0n. These are pictures from the Sunday pro-Hamas demonstration across the street from the Colorado State Capitol in Denver that I felt were too icky and grouchy to post with the happy pictures of people demonstrating for a real peace in the Middle East.  So don't click 'more' and then come crying to me or anyone else here that you're so disturbed and you want us to take them down.  You have been warned.

I'm also issuing a strong caution against hate speech here.  Our gracious host has agreed to smack anyone down in short order engaging in hate speech.  We're conservatives, we're smart enough to know where the line is and not turn this place into a sewer.  Think about where you're going before you go there, and if you have any doubt in your mind about whether what you're saying is offensive in that way, hold your tongue.  Or your keyboard.  Just don't lick your keyboard, there's all kinds of disgusting things there.
