Naturally: Bush is too stupid to be politically savvy on the oil issue

A Bush Administration spokesman told the press that Bush has no plans on urging or demanding a special session to address the oil issue because the Democrats control Congress and it ain't happening.  Someone at the RNC needs to give Bush a phone call and tell him to pull his head out of his ass.  It's exactly this sort of laziness that caused the GOP to lose Congress in the first place.

Allah thinks it was a good move, due to Bush's unpopularity and it'd give an opportunity for the Democrats to screech about executive overreach.  Now that I think about it, maybe, it would give the House GOP the ability to take full credit.  I'm still not quite sold on that line of thinking, though, I think this comes from stupidity, laziness or a healthy mix of both.

1 I agree, and don't get what people are saying when they claim that the president should stay out of the fray.

2 I don't think this move is stupid at all.

First, while he can call them back to Washington, he cannot set the agenda, that goes the the Majority Party.

Second, What if he did call them back and they passed some watered down "bipartisan" bull shit bill just to get the issue of the dinner tables.

Third, he should let the Repubs in Congress and McCain (hopefully) deal with this and take the credit. Make Pelosi call a special session and come crawling back to fix this mess.

Last, I don't think Bush should stay out of the fray, he should go down there and show his support for what is going on, and call on Pelosi to reconvene for the good of the American people.

3 I know he can't set the agenda. He can still stick 'em in a room and announce why he's called them back. Pelosi and Reid will keep on about their "drilling is a scam" and do nothing and in the meantime, Republicans can play kickball in the chambers.

4 I think what really needs to happen right now is for McCain to go to the House Chambers, stand with the Reps and demand that Pelosi get back to Washington and call for a vote.
Yes, this is all just political theater but it works.

5 You know, the argument that you should not try because of resistance would have ensured that we'd all be speaking German right now.

You gotta challenge people because rolling over and playing dead never accomplished a single thing.

6 I agree with A. Weasel. Let the President and McCain be visible on the floor of the House with the rest. And why are there still so few?

And where are the BLUE DOGS??!!!

This is my thought too, strike while the iron is hot, and be bold.
