The entry is a result of registering a PAC to pursue a candidacy for Palin. She wouldn't have to be, and isn't, involved.

1 It looks legit, but I can't duplicate the search at the FEC website. Very strange.

2 OK, I did (finally) duplicate the search, don't know exactly what it means but it's a real filing.

Maybe you have to declare something in order to register a PAC.

A couple of updates:

- Allahpundit reports that a new "official" PAC, called SarahPAC, has been created. The entity that registered it, Campaign Solutions, ran the 2004 Bush-Cheney and the 2008 McCain sites, as well as a heap of other Republicans' sites. As the statement of organization is hand-written, it is not yet available for an FEC search.

- There is also a "2012 Draft Sarah Committee" that was formed in late November. That is likely the entity that caused the file to be opened.
