Also, there is something you agree to when you take someone's pay to work for them. The agreement is that you are loyal to them until such time as you leave their employ.

What I'm not getting is why so many people take a common-law approach to interpreting this: Why should that loyalty that was essentially bought during that time period suddenly no longer apply to that time period? If, while working for my current company, I come up with a ground-breaking idea, that idea is THEIR property and I am never able to divulge it. Why should loyalties towards employers and information be treated any differently?

Yet somehow now people are completely at ease with acting like true mercenaries and following money instead of ideals.

Just because we all knew McClellan was a ass-wipe tool doesn't mean that it should be accepted.

I'm of the opinion that when you leave public service you should not be able to cash in on that experience any more than someone be allowed to badmouth (for example) Dow Chemical w/o fear of reprisals and rebuttals. Just one man's opinion.

As for accepting it, I don't, it was a really crappy thing to do, but I'm just so unsurprised by his conduct I just can't get that annoyed with him.  As for respecting him, I never did on any level, which probably fits in with why I'm not really outraged! by his conduct.

I'm annoyed at a whole class of people that have so little self-control that they can't deny the behaviors that they really want to indulge in because it's the right thing to do.  At some point, to have class, you have to recognize that there are times you just gotta suck it up and walk away.  He failed.

Why do I say FAIL?  Because who else wants to hire a kiss-n-tell little snitch that would possibly stab you in the back after he's gone, just to make a buck?
