Fast Eddie: Yeah hey, uh, Barry? You might wanna come back to PA and try and shore up your support here

Our slimeball governor has sent out two memos to Obama and the Clintons, asking them to schedule some more visits.  I'm guessing he's hearing the same thing that the rest of us are hearing, that things are close here.

I remain in the Treacher camp on the polls, I don't think they're accurate, and I think we're in the fight as long as we don't get bogged down in the media's propaganda campaign.  I think if the McCain campaign is willing to put the time and resources into the state, he has a chance here.

1 I think Ace mentioned it today, but the Rahm Emmanuel method of nudging the media to declare the "sure winner" and bandwagon effect may be an attempt to mold undecideds and depress Republicans. That's why the MSM goes dark on polls when they don't reflect what they want.

And the fact Rendell is doing what he is doing signifies the public polls are bogus.

If things are this tight despite the 111% pro-Obama coverage in the press, what does that tell you?

You've been saying things are close in PA for a while, haven't you? I guess Rendell finally heard you

But a question: is there anyone left in PA for Obama to pander to that yet another visit will help?

3 So I'm guessing there needs to be more walking around money spent in Philly.

4 ECM, if I had to guess, 75% of the intent of those memos is directed at applying pressure to the Clintons.  The rest is I'm guessing one last push to rally college students and Philly people so they actually turn up at the polls.

5 1) It's possible that McCain has been holding off advertising until now, which will make a difference.  Here in Florida, I saw the first McCain since about the time of the conventions a few days ago, and have seen it repeated twice since then.  Also the 527 ad hitting Obama for talking to evil scum type dictators has run a couple of times.  So McCain ads are just now starting to have an impact.  (Although I'm not sure how much of an impact.  The 527 ad was run by the National Republican Jewish Coalition (may have messed up the name there) aka Likud-GOP, which will automatically deflate the ad's influence.  And the McCain ad--on experience--"his first crisis will be in this chair"--isn't really intelligible, since that can be said of any brand new president, including a putative President McCain.) On the other hand, since Obama seems to be running three or four ads an hour, the McCain ads might get overwhelmed no matter how good they are, especially since the most frequently aired ads are the ones in which Raul Martinez and Mario Diaz Balart yell "he's a crook!" at each other.
2) Early voting started yesterday.  I went by the nearest location today, and found out I would need to wait at least half an hour.  Since I didn't have half an hour to wait, I'll try again later this week or next week.  There were a number of cars with Obama stickers in the parking lot, none with McCain; but this is an area which is considered a safe Democratic seat in Congress, so no surprise there, and of course I couldn't say how many people in line were voting Obama or McCain.  However, while there was one Obama volunteer stationed outside (at the required distance from the polling station), and several volunteers for local races, there was no one representing McCain.   Don't know if that meant they hadn't enough people to allow them to assign someone here, or simply thought the area is too Democratic to be worth  the effort.
And that polling place you may have heard about with the four hour wait yesterday was in the black section of Fort Lauderdale.  Presumably all the neighbors rushed down to cast their vote for Brother Barack.

6 Oh, and not really on topic, but why didn't y'all tell me you liked the best scifi show on TV?

(And given how the show's producers do go overboard with promoting gay iz equal, it is somewhat odd, even if you include Andrew Sullivan as a Republican.)

8 I prefer Torchwood actually - mainly because I love Ianto.  Primeval is also tons of silly fun.
